Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Me, I like the Philly baby blue and burgundy look. Phillies have a pretty strong uniform game. Underrated. Like the Numbers on the sleeve. Nobody does that. You know what else nobody does? Grey numbers That's a unique Mets thing and they just junked it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 In general the powder blues emerged as an alternate to gray in road unis during the '70s & '80s But there were the Phils in Game 5 wearing them at home while visiting Houston has 'Astros' splashed across their bright orange shirts (with gray pants at least). So one can see where this sort of thing can cause agita among those members of the tradition police.Me, I don't get too worked up over this stuff.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Alvarado gonna Alvarado
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Wowzers! You can definitely make the case that Alvarado vs the LH-swinging Alvarez was the sound move ... but, man, I'm reluctant to pull Wheeler off a HBP plus a soft single.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2022 Author Posted November 5, 2022 But Wheeler gave up two singles and it was lefty-lefty! Somewhere, Dom Smith is smiling at that bomb off Alvarado.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 Bregman may be out, but there's NO WAY that that's the kind of play replay was designed to "fix".[posted prior to decision being announced]

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 Everyone has been lamenting the transition of the game to "Starters go 5, bring in the bullpen and wait for someone to hit a home run".But this series has shown that the hit and run, stolen base and defense are also exciting parts of winning baseball. And fundamentals can be exciting, too.And the team that did those things won. There IS a future for the game as we knew it.Later
