Met Hunter Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 (edited) It was announced at the Met game that Teddy passed away. His obit says September 8th. Ted was a city school teacher. I met him at his home in 2001. He was ready to sell and moved south. He spent a number of years in GA and then FL.Ted was the last batter at the Polo Grounds. He hit into a game ending double play (of course) against the Phillies. He told me he ‘was robbed' on the play. The second baseman that robbed him was Cookie Rojas. The shortstop who turned two was Bobby Wine. Two future Met coaches. Of course. Edited September 17, 2022 by Guest

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Not only did bat last at the PG, he made the final assist in a home team win, handling an Ernie Bowman grounder to third and firing to first baseman Tim Harkness to seal Al Jackson's complete game victory over San Fran. Ted entered for defense in the ninth and notched two assists.
