It always seemed (my impression) that the Mets struggled the first time they faced a pitcher.

It sounds like this new machine will address that problem. They will have the opportunity to see his stuff before they face him. Or, they'll be able to work on hitting deliveries from pitchers against whom they have struggled.

Sounds interesting.

Hope it works.

Mets to get new super high tech pitching machine that can replicate the delivery and pitch repertoire of any MLB pitcher. They'll be just one of four teams to have this technology.

I saw this, am intrigued. I am unconvinced a machine can replicate the delivery of a human? Is this actually delivery or just pitch repertoire? I wish someone had asked even basic follow up questions. it's probably one of the ones mentioned in this article

From Trajekt (which, btw, features a quote from Hugh Quattlebaum)
Pitcher delivery is projected onto the Arc™ to help batters with timing. Familiarize batters with opponent pitchers from the wind up and stretch through the integrated projection of LHP/RHP.

Yeah, it's that one. Trajekt.

I have a feeling that this will be like the rear view camera on a car. In a year or two, everybody's going to have it.

It was interesting how novel a pitcher who makes his money with the splitter seemed to be last night.

You'd have thought Alonso had never seen the pitch before.
