Demeritte was hitting .313 going into that plate appearance. That may be a sample size thingie (32 at-bats) but it's not nothing considering the uncharacteristically slow start most of this lineup has endured. They had d'Arnaud, Heredia, and Orlando Arcia on the bench. I got the idea that d'Arnaud was being held back to pinch-hit for Contreras two batters later. So the main alternative was to send d'Arnaud up for Demeritte and use Heredia or Arcia if they were able to keep it going.I don't know. But you're bringing a strong pun game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 I hung the decision not to PH on Snitker simply to get the pun in, but my initial thought was that Atlanta's bench must be either thin or short (or both) if they're opting not to hit for their part-timer/9th place hitter in that situation.OF Eddie Rosario seems to be the only bat on the IL but he owns a .307 lifetime OBA plus was 4/43 in '22 even when he was healthy.
