Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 I noticed that yesterday. Looked at Willie Mays' page and his debut is changed to 1948 and he has ten additional career base hits.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Baseball Reference has announced that the Negro Leagues will be considered Major Leagues Well, it wasn't Baseball Reference who decided (considered) it. They just updatedthe stats in accordance with https://www.npr.org/2020/12/17/947440076/after-100-years-mlb-recognizes-negro-leagues-as-major-leaguethis, of course.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 For a long time, the only two pitchers in the Hall of Fame with losing records in the Hall of Fame were Leroy Paige and Rollie Fingers.Bruce Sutter (and maybe somebody else?) has since joined them, but Satchell is now off the hook.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 The leagues included are:NEGRO AMERICAN LG (1937-1948)NEGRO NATIONAL LG II (1933-1948)EAST-WEST LG (1932)NEGRO SOUTHERN LG (1932)NEGRO NATIONAL LG (1920-1931)AMERICAN NEGRO LG (1929)EASTERN COLORED LG (1923-1928)BB-REF also redesigned their front page to make room for the announcement which has the added bonus of cleaning things up a bit from the jumbled mess it's looked like most recently.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Have the other Negro League records been added (or will they be added) as minor league data?
