Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 7, 2020 Posted November 7, 2020 Another surprising addition to the Mets minor-league contracts earlier this week is young (26) big league veteran José Peraza.Having spent most of his career with Cincy, José is a pretty Metly without ever being a Met before, in that he was a relatively big-ticket infield prospect dealt twice during his climb through the minors in massive three-team trades, but nonetheless arriving faster than his significant skills could catch up with his level. He's got good bat to ball skills (he led the National League in singles back in 2018, and his homerun power shows up too, but the doubles and triples aren't there, and he's not big on taking pitches. Essentially, he's a picture of what Amed Rosario might turn into if he doesn't get his shit going.Still, he's a pretty good grab for a utility player in the bigs, even after being a part of a stinky Boston squad in 2020, and I'm surprised he took a minor league deal so early in the offseason.https://media1.tenor.com/images/e8accf9cdff29414b093dbd2d02b6065/tenor.gif?itemid=13705476>
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 7, 2020 Author Posted November 7, 2020 Oh sure. Ignore José Peraza ... AT YOUR PERIL. Fun Fact: Peraza has played every position but catcher and first.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Another infielder. And Imelda Marcos got another pair of shoes.Nothing really to comment about, other than he hits righty. And maybe it makes one of the shortstop prospects now trade fodder. Can't hurt.Later
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Career .310 OBP. I mean, that's better than Rosario, so it's not nothing, but still... he's 2021's version of Omar Quintanilla.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 8, 2020 Author Posted November 8, 2020 Well, I was thinking Amed Rosario was 2023's version of José Peraza, so cool.
