Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Come on, Ike and Tina. Give us some offense.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 The cardboard audience members in Buffalo look more-or-less consistently and appropriately sized.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Gary: Three-and-two on Rosario. Ramos on first, not likely to go.#analysis
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Kirk looks like the catcher in Moneyball who wears a big pair of underwear.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 And the "limit" on replays is once again ignored.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Cano needs to start hitting to make up for his lack of range.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 Mets need to show some chug-a chug-a motion like a railway train, NOW!!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Let's just get it over with and have reviews of every call.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 This is where a 3d C would be helpful--so they could pinchrun for Ramos.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Bo Bichette's given first name is actually Bo, it's not short for anything.Papa Dante was born Alphonse Dante Bichette.Dante Jr., older brother of Bo, was a high draft pick by the Yanx but his career has seemingly stalled.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 I DO enjoy Miguel Castro's sock/shoe game immensely
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 His not-letting-the-opposing-team-hit-it game is decent, as well
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Author Posted September 12, 2020 Alonso, lost at the plate...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 The story about Gary missing last night's game recalls the great WC Fields joke.In one of his movies, WC's character faked the death of his Mother in Law to get out of work and go to the track."It must be hard to lose your mother in law" his boss said to him. "Yes" he replied, "it's nearly impossible".
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 2-0 count, the pitcher is upset at the calls, and Wilson weakly grounds into two. So much for his carryover from last night.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 So... unlimited challenges, then?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 What this game needs is another replay
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Fuck you Amed. You can join Luis Castillo and go fuck yourselves or each other. I don't care. Fuck you both.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Mattingly would have enjoyed all the challenges. Apparently "using your challenges" is just bullshit.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 (edited) So MLB is telling us that that replay provided "definitive proof" not only to flip a call but to end a game by erasing the tying run with a flipped call? BULLSHIT!! Regardless of which team is helped or hurt, that one was no more or less definitive than the previous pickoff review and despite all the assurances that only "obvious" calls will be reversed, the track record shows that anything with 51% probability and guesswork is enough to stop the game a half dozen times and correct "wrongs" that couldn't carry an agreement beyond MAYBE a slight majority of those viewing it.This system sucks, it always sucked, the NFL has been at this since the Reagan administration and their system sucks worse and gets worse all the time despite claims that they just need a bit more time to "smooth out the rough edges"."But there will be challenge limits!! ... And there will be time constraints!! ... And if it corrects just one bad call it's worth it!!!" ... No!It!Isn't!And tonight was a 3-2, 8-1/2 inning game that took nearly 3-1/2 hours and MLB seemingly has no idea why or how to correct it.I might have a few suggestions for them. bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 Well said. I watched some of the tennis today and their replay system figured out "in or out" in a few seconds. With this system and these dopes it takes 2 to 3 minutes every time.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2020 Posted September 12, 2020 The tennis system is more akin to the proposed Robo-Ump which, as you know, is something I'm in favor of. It's a technology driven device with near-instant feedback which makes a definitive In/Out call.It involves no guesswork, no 14 camera angles to examine so as to Maybe get a new view, and no staring at super-slo-mo like it's the Zapruder film with some hidden info that will bust the case wide openif only we look long enough and hard enough. And, as far as I know anyway, tennis DOES have limits on challenges and they DO enforce them. The players (not some dude in a booth somewhere) make the appeal and it needs to be instant and they needto use them wisely rather than risk them on 50/50 shots on the basis that there's no harm in NOT trying it and maybe they'll get lucky.
