Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 A strikeout of Harrison, the gift that keeps giving. Ten outs to go.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Squeezed through that inning. Fortunately, Harrison and Villar are really swinging noodles.Nine more outs. Who's your next pitcher?
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Gimenez with the heads up drag bunt and 1st to 3rd in the single. I vote Cano to bench when he gets back.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 1st & 3rd nobody out ... time to not let the ball get out of the infield.C'mon boys, prove me wrong.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I love a bunt hit. Thrills that money can't buy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Now they're bloated.Two-three-four coming up. Every opportunity to put this game away here.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 The average number of runs scored after loading the bases with no outs is around 2.5That we're now semi-satisfied with the fact that we didn't get shut out there says a lot.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 That book is bad. There are better books about Willie.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 The pitcher's best friend just showed up.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 I was sooooooo bored reading that book and it was about WILLIE MAYS!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I was thinking Conforto was out, but then I thought the tag was missed. But out he is.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Umpy is simply seeing different pitches than the ones I'm seeing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 (edited) Remember when replays were only going to be overturned in cases where there was 'clear and convincing' evidence? That's always been the selling point but it's never the case in practice. And as time has gone on it now seems that a 51%/49% guesstimate is enough for them to flip a call. Were it up to me I'd reject anything that even hinted at not being definitive which would have the added benefit of discouraging managers from challenging future ticky-tack calls. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 And check it out ... another K w/2-outs and RiSP!!!
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 Perhaps replays should only be called for by the umps on vacation, I mean in the review booth.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 The ump missed strike three and now all hell is breaking loose.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Villar has had a crappy game, but he's also probably the biggest victim of the ump's erratic strikezone.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 This was a pretty Fugly game all around.First of all it was a 4-2 8-1/2 game which came in at 3:09. The two teams combined to go 3-fer-20 w/RiSP [NYM = 1/10; FLA = 2/10] w/19 LOBsters combined. There were far too many freaking pitches (166 by the Mets), 9 combined walks, questionable strategies on both sides, ... and then there was the umpiring.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Yeah, that was a mess. Still no clutch hitting, even in a win.
