Zack is indeed crappy tonight.

Just settling in and 4-sniffle already. Wheeler becoming more and more

unreliable? Ugly MLB gimmick unis I guess all weekend.

It's still looks like a team of cricketers taking on a team of umps.

I can't see how this kooky look is all about the "players."

What an innovative marketing department (iow: not ours) could have lined up for this weekend is mixing in songs with Black and/or White in them between innings.

You can go with PAINT IT BLACK when the visiting team comes to bat, then counter with KNIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN in the bottom half.

WHITE WEDDING, BLACK AND WHITE, EBONY AND IVORY, etc

The weird thing about this series is that, for the most part, they've kept Freddie and Acuna off the bases but instead are being burned by a bunch of guys (Hamilton, Hechavarria, Cervelli) who

weren't even Braves until just a few days ago, or, in Cervelli's case, just a few hours ago.

- bad call to bunt

- bad decision to run

- and probably a bad call to challenge although any close play is almost an automatic these days

Ran ourselves out of that inning.

Agreed. Mickey always challenges when the runner tells him to and it's almost always wrong. Joel Sherman wrote today that Mickey could win Manager of the Year and he also could get fired. I'll take both.

That half-inning would have been embarrassing in spring training. To happen in a big game like this should have embarrassed Brodie.

The problem is that just enough of these 'eyelash' plays get overturned (despite promises that only the obvious ones would) that managers get a 'what the hell, it might work' attitude, particularly

late in games. The Yanx got a force play overturned today in the 9th (it loaded the bases w/1 out in a tie game ... they lost anyway) that I saw from at least six angles and STILL couldn't tell but

apparently the umps could. If I were in the 'NY bunker' I wouldn't overturn anything that wasn't super obvious which would revery the replay challenge to how it was originally intended to be used.

Brach almost got out of the inning

McNeil almost caught that liner

the ump almost rung up Billy Hamilton out on a pitch clearly in the zone

and Davis almost participated in a play where the ball was hit to him

Maybe Brodie should have stopped patting himself on the back and made an effort to get Hamilton.
