smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 He's getting pitched to more carefully, which is a natural consequence of his performance in the first half (and, to some degree, the weakness of the Mets' hitters behind him). He's a rookie who needs to adjust as the league adjusts to him. I'm not concerned long-term. It was perfectly reasonable to expect stretches like this one, well before he started exceeding reasonable expectations with his first-half hitting.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Is anyone blaming the Home Run Derby yet? It's probably inevitable if he doesn't snap out of it soon.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Everybody and his overly savvy brother is blaming the Home Run Derby. But unless his entire career is ruined (which I don't believe), it was worth it.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 I don't believe in curses but I felt like we watched him get into this mess during the first round of that meaningless stunt contest, which Pete took way too seriously.Gets dinged as I write this....get well soon brother

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 And seeing how the Mets are done with the Marlins until September 23, Curtis Granderson is perfectly welcome to pick up that gauntlet and go on a tear.
