Depending on this weekend, this could be a really weird period. Apart from the hard deadline — and can anybody explain what precipitated that? — there are six American League teams with no reasonable chance of the post-season, but only one in the National League. And the National League one is Miami, who have already dealt off all their veterans pre-emptively (though there's always Curtis).

Crazy ass 3 way moves Bauer to Reds, Puig and about 6 Padres to the Indians, and some guy to SD. Puig brawled tonight in Cincinnati

I guess the brawl was prior to the trade announcement ... although who knows w/Puig (still in his uni).

Amir Garrett, the Cincy reliever who once played hoops at St Johns, was being pulled by his manager and the second he was signaled out of the game he took off at a sprint towards the Pitt dugout

and connected with a wild left at someone. Got pretty nasty including managers being held apart.



What preceded it all was a ground out so it's not obvious what set him off.

We sat directly behind Franmil Reyes at Citi the other night. Tried to engage him conversation but he would only communicate in Spanish with some fans seated to our left. I barely know his name but he has like 25 home runs this year. They say he's a shit outfielder but he made one really nice catch.



Reds get Bauer, give up a top prospect in Taylor Trammel who goes to SD. Similar to Mets-Stroman deal.
