Here's a quiet storm sex-jam from our friends at ARS. It was their Greatest Hit, reaching No. 7 on the Billboards in 1977. Written by producer-founder Buddy Buie, keyboard player Dean Daughtry and drummer Robert Nix.

It's Matz against Max (Fried), 7:20. Be there!

They may have been a white R&B groove act and not "southern rock" per se, but that didn't stop them from accenting their set with the Confederate flag. It was the seventies. It was the south. It was the law. Also, their biggest album, Champagne Jam, opened with a song dedicated to the deceased members of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Whatever key differences, culturally, they were plugged into the whole Southern rock thang. Also "So in to You" appeared on https://www.discogs.com/Various-Southern-Fried-Rock/release/1986236Southern Fried Rock, which gives an act a lot of SR credibility points.

I never noticed before that it's "So in to You," with a space, rather than "So into You." Curious.

Yeah each of their albums had a few boogie numbers as well. But they were so much more organ-forward than their Southern Fried contemporaries. A tweener act at the intersection of adult contemporary-R&B and Southern Rock. Some Yacht-ness to 'em as well.

Very well regarded by peers in the industry.

I was waiting for a plane a few years ago, and there were two guys near me who discovered that they had the same Atlanta Rhythm Section tattoo. It was pretty exciting at first, but soon it was down to awkward silence and an occasional "What are the chances?" and "Wow."

Helluva job Gary Di. Last year: bench coach. This year: 3B coach. Next year: someone else's problem.
