Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 The Mets are playing a lot of guys side-by-side who are competing for jobs — Hech and Espinosa, Blanco and Rajai. The Marlins are showing what big fans they are of the 2016 Mets.Notable: Marlins are batting the pitcher while the Mets use the DH.

http://www.stickpng.com/assets/images/584d431b0a44bd1070d5d428.png>http://www.stickpng.com/assets/images/584d43950a44bd1070d5d42d.png>

Jeff McNeil, dhJuan Lagares, cfDominic Smith, 1bWilson Ramos, cJ.D. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 Mets pull off the nifty-if-unsustainable trick of surrendering three hits in the first with no Marlins crossing the plate. Special thanks to Juan Lagares for taking out a baserunner at third.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 deGrom needs to start pitching like a guy they wanna reward with a multiyear contract
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 Holy Ralph Kiner! The Marlins have a firstbasemen named Garrett Cooper!Marlins lead 2-1, with a two-run homer by Anderson cutting into deGrom's otherwise scoreless five innings. He only gave up 10 of those all last season, I think. Six K's and no walks. The Mets only answer came on a sixth-inning RBI double by Dominique Smith. That first base competition is quite a little war, but any sign of humanity by deGrom being too much for the Mets offense to overcome ... well, that's an old song.Non-roster lefty Hector Santiago came in for the sixth. He then plunked leadoff hitter Starlin Castro, and immediately struck out the side in order. All three were righties!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 And ... five straight two-out hits off of Tyler Bashlor lead to a four-run seventh for the Marlins, opening up their lead to 6-1.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 Hechie throws away a double-play ball following a nice pick by Smitty, and two more runs cross.Mets bat in the ninth down 8-1.
