Guest 41Forever Guests Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 The Mets are extending the trademark on #LGM. The Post, armed with this fact and only this fact, makes some assumptions and some mistakes -- all of which could have been avoided by actually reaching out to the Mets' communications department.https://nypost.com/2019/02/15/mets-to-market-to-millennials-for-69-clubs-50th-anniversary/https://nypost.com/2019/02/15/mets-to-market-to-millennials-for-69-clubs-50th-anniversary/

It's shorthand for a catch phrase that was only created during the Mets' second — and last — championship season in 1986 as a song to help drive the team and its fans to victory.I remember us all sitting mute from 1962 to 1985, groping for some pithy expression with which to collectively urge our team forward. Thank goodness somebody came along during the franchise's twenty-fifth season to suddenly craft the musical answer to our prayers from which we could derive a handy phrase.

whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 I can remember yelling "Lets Go Mets Go" at the TV in the 70s when the Mets scored. Not saying I made it up as a little kid, but surely it's an obvious battle cry.Cripes a trademark? Now we can't put it on banners?
