Jackson hasn't been an elite defensive centerfielder for a while, and is not even good at this point (the Fielding Bible has him at -15 runs saved on the year). Nimmo remains our best defensive outfielder, in addition to being our best hitter (with all due respects to my new favorite player, Jeff McNeil).

Well, he came into the game hitting .305. And he joined the team at a point where they were loaded with lefthanded outfielders and needed somebody righthanded.

He goes back on the ball in center better than Conforto and Nimmo. Those guys come in on the ball nicely and cover the gaps (Nimmo moreso) well, but over-the-head has been no-man's-land for the two of them.
