Man, the Dodgers are having all kinds of late game problems without Kenley Jansen in the mix (heart issues for which he'll probably need off-season surgery though still could pitch this year).
First they lost two straight via walk-offs to Colorado over the weekend: a 3R HR in the 9th in Saturday's game where they led by 2; then a tie-breaking walk-off walk in the 9th on Sunday
They then faced the Giants on Monday in a Kershaw/Bumgarner face-off. Kershaw got the better and LA led 2-1 heading to the 9th only to see SFG put up a 4-spot after Kershaw was gone.

Scott Alexander, J. T. Chargois, Dylan Florio, and Pedro Baez have been their 9th inning wannabes lately and whether this 'proves' that the 9th inning is different or merely shows that
it's different only if you suck, it's safe to say that those guys aren't exactly working out right now.

All this trouble has put LAD 1.0 game out in the west (behind ARZ and tied with COL) but also 2.5 out of the 2nd WC
Right now it's looking like they have to beat out at least four from among the group of ATL, PHI, MIL, COL, ARZ, & StL -- which is something you can say for all of those teams but the Dodgers are currently
behind or tied with all in that group.

Oh, and Manny Machado 2018 OPS = 963 w/BAL, 733 w/LAD

Flicked over briefly to the Braves/Marlins game (6-6 after 6) and was just in time to see Biddle pitching to Riddle.
That would be Jesse of Atlanta vs J T (Joshua) of Miami

Another day, another 9th inning loss by the Dodgers.
They had actually tied the game with a run in bottom 8th and decided to turn the 9th inning of the tied game over to starter Kenta Maeda.
But he promptly served up a run on three singles and LA failed to match in their half.

So that's now five straight losses, all to division rivals (COL & SFG), all by one run and/or walk-off, and with 9 of the 19 runs they've allowed during that stretch coming in the 8th & 9th innings.
Oh yeah, and they're not hitting either: 12 RS in 5 games

The "pleasant" me says, "Couldn't happen to a nicer team".
My evil twin joins folks who used to root for the Brooklyn Dodgers in saying, "I hope they never win another game and the fans boo the team out of town".
I'm enjoying the heck out of their misfortunes.

The Texas Rangers did something that hasn’t been done since the Dodgers still played in Brooklyn, a loaf of bread only cost a nickel and the world was only two months removed from the Titanic tragedy.

Rangers teammates Jurickson Profar and Rougned Odor turned a triple play without retiring a batter for the first time since June 13, 1912, when those Brooklyn Dodgers did it against the Cincinnati Reds.

In the hugest series they've played in Oakland for a while, the A's scored on an overturned call at the plate w/one out in the 9th, then won it on a leadoff walk-off HR in the 10th to nip Houston 4-3 and
close to [u:21zgm18e]1.0 game back[/u:21zgm18e] of 1st in the AL West
A's , who were 11.5 out in mid-June, are now 73-49 and on pace for a 98-win season.

Worcester apparently came up with better [crossout]bribe money[/crossout] investments in a new stadium.
Shame for Pawtucket which has been the AAA affiliate of the BoSox since the early '70s and were their AA team for several years before that.

The Pirates & Cubs just finished a four-game series in which nine total runs were scored. Shyeeeet, the Mets had two half innings this week where they scored more than that.
Cubs won 1-0 on both Thursday & Friday. Pirates came back with a 3-1 win and then another today, 2-1 in 11 innings.

They wanted to be closer to Clark University.
