Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 The Mets limp home from a brutal beating in Washington to take on the second place Atlanta Braves, sitting only a half game out of first. The Mets somehow retain joint possession of fourth place, but remain a discouraging 36 1/2 net games off the division pace.Worry not, however. The Mets are poised to unleash Jason Vargas. And that's never a pleasant thought for the opposition.Mike full-tin-EV-ich goes for the Georgians.[youtube:uo52hm9k]-sxUX3CNjmg[/youtube:uo52hm9k]
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 I'd be frothing like Cujo at the chance to face Vargas, if I were any kind of real MLB hitter. He sucks all the butt.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2018 Author Posted August 2, 2018 Also coming home is the Mets' long-lost thirdbaseman.Well, the other Mets' long-lost thirdbaseman.[fimg=250]https://images.footballfanatics.com/FFImage/thumb.aspx?i=/productimages/_2736000/altimages/ff_2736139alt1_full.jpg&w=900[/fimg][fimg=250]https://images.footballfanatics.com/FFImage/thumb.aspx?i=/productimages/_2736000/altimages/ff_2736116alt1_full.jpg&w=900[/fimg]Ronald Acuna Jr. (R), cfOzzie Albies (S), 2bFreddie Freeman (L), 1bNick Markakis (L), rfAdam Duvall (R), lfJohan Camargo (S), 3bTyler Flowers (R), cDansby Swanson (R), ssMike Foltynewicz (R), rhspBrandon Nimmo (L), cfJosé Bautista (R), rfMichael Conforto (L), lfWilmer Flores (R), 1bTodd Frazier, (R) 3bJeff McNeil (L), 2bKevin Plawecki, (R) cJosé Reyes, (S), ssJason Vargas, (L), lhsp

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Thursday nights are always slow here. Everyone (including me) is down atthe Bedrock Firehouse playing cards and drinking fitty-cent beers. Just wait,Wilma and Betty are gonna figure out the whole fire department thing whenthey realize that Bedrock is made of all stone.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 Nice to hear the booth throw the Jeep Pitchcast under the bus.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 This stretch reminds me of how I felt during the 'Nieuwenhuis game' a couple years back. That bolt out of the blue shocked me so much because, while I knew that a 3R HR was theoretically possible, the odds of it actually happening were so low in my mind that I never considered it.We've reached the same point now. There have been a half dozen ABs here where a timely hit would have put us right back in the game, but I had ZERO cahnfidence in any of them. And this goes back to Zimmo's game-ending GiDP yesterday on the first pitch.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 Damn, Stu likes the low strike.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 Ideally we have a pinch-hitter for McNeil.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Nice job staring at a pitch right over the plate, Kevin. Maybe one day the Mets will have a decent catcher again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 Plawecki, my eyeballs, watching the slow-mo replay, the three guys in the booth, Jeep PitchCast, and GameDay all suggest Kevin got screwed.[fimg=600:22lhjwrv]https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2018/08/screen-shot-2018-08-02-at-10-04-57-pm.png[/fimg:22lhjwrv]When you're going bad, forces align against you.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 guy called a lot of borderline strikes. replay showed it was outside

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Swing the damn bat. Don't let a bad ump beat you--Pawlecki is more than capable of doing that himself.
