Needs to play to be No. 53, but the good news is the record is 54, so if Jack gets in a game, all we will need is one of the following to tie and two to surpass:

• The return of T.J. Rivera
• The return of Gavin Cecchini
• The promotion of Peter Alonso
• The return of David Wright

Or a couple more Jack Reinheimers from out of nowhere. I think we've got a shot at history.

Eat your heart out, 1967!

Who said that this was a lost season? The half-hour highlight film, after the 11 and 1 start, will simply be a montage of every player.

I meant the *major league* record, not the Met record. HISTORY, BABY!

Damn, that's aspirational.

Who used 64 players? A few weeks ago I saw Texas used 60 players in 2014, at that point the MLB record.

Ah, what I found when I was searching was from the night the Rangers reached No. 60. It was they who used 64.

So then we need all those to happen ... plus:

  • The addition of Jamie Callahan to the 60-Day DL
  • The promotion and deployment of =#0000FF]Franklyn Kilomé
  • The release of José Bautista
  • The promotion and deployment of =#0000FF]Peter Alonso
  • The release of Austin Jackson
  • The promotion and deployment of =#0000FF]Bryce Brentz
  • The DFA-ing of Jack Reinhemier (after his deployment, of course)
  • The promotion and deployment of =#0000FF]Colton Plaia (because who can't use a third catcher in September?)
  • A trade of Jerry Blevins for future interests
  • The promotion and deployment of =#0000FF]Ian Kroll
  • The retirement of José Reyes
  • The promotion and deployment of =#0000FF]Cody Asche

Get me to 55 and I'll be satisfied. Fifty-Four in Sixty-Seven is that rare Mets record I've been conscious of seemingly my entire fan that's never been broken, right there with 40-120 and 25-7. I don't expect the latter to fall and lord help us if we ever approach the former.

(I should throw in the eleven-game winning streak, but at least it's been tied multiple times since it became enshrined as unbreakable.)

Looks like we'll be tied very soon: Mets place Bobby Wahl on DL, promote LHP Daniel Zamora
