G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Gone with the DFA wind to the Dodgers organization. The Irish kid, we called him in our living room. Mrs. Fafif was excited to hear him speak, disappointed to learn he grew up in California. She was hoping for something out of The Commitments.Wasn't terrible for a few innings against the Reds in his debut. Was terrible against the Braves in his followup.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 We won both games he started.I'd have liked to see him stay in the organization, but there's always a danger when you DFA somebody with options.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Seemed like a seriously un-necessary roster pinch.Heck, if they were jonesing for a third catcher, they could have called up Nido. But maybe he was ineligible after just being sent down. But the three catchers, five infielders, four outfielders strategy is a losing-ass approach. As for P.J., I'm sorry to see his career cut short. Shortish and slowish of velocity, but I like command. Seemed to have some heart, too.He joins the all-time roster of M.J.s:A.J. RamosC.J. NitkowskiD.J. CarrascoD.J. DozierJ.J. PutzP.J. ConlonT.J. RiveraOk, so, there's not a lot of distinction there.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I will remember him as an embodiment of the crap we have in our farm system.Watching him pitch against the Braves thinking "We knew this doubleheader was coming up, and this is the best we got?"
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Animal House characterOr PJ Masks character
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 Hmmm upon further review maybe I am remembering ‘pj’ as National lampoon’ and not Animal House
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 he just didn't have true big league stuff, at least not yet. sorry to lose you, Peej, may you have more luck in California

But I at least understand the rationale of trying to get Plawecki and Mesoraco into the lineup at the same time when the only healthy right-handed non-catcher we currently have is somebody we pulled from the Braves' dumpster. We can't even call up Cecchini because HE's hurt, too.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 The rationale of getting Plawecki and Mesoraco in the lineup is reasonable, but not at the expense of kissing Conlon goodbye. There was no way he was going to get DFAed and still stay a Met.
