Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 I was one of the hottest young catchers in baseball. I was! Maybe even one of the hottest young properties!Remember 2014?! Sure you do! Yours truly had 25 homers and 80 RBI in just 114 games and the scribes couldn't get enough of me. I was Justin Bieber and Jack Kennedy and Troy Donahue rolled into one! Yeah, it was just like that!OK, it was nothing like that. Good things don't happen in Cincinnati. But they sure tried to make something good out of it all, locking me up with a big contract along with my fellow Italian Americans Joey Votto and Homer Botabingo. It was a big deal! Four years! Three of those years are gone. I've named them "Hip Surgery," "Torn Labrum," and "Broken Foot."This is year four, and I'm naming this one "Traded to the Mets for Matt Harvey," which has a nice ring to it considering the three prior years. And frankly, considering those three years, I shudder to think what has become of Matt, but he's welcome to my old digs in Cincinnati. But me, I'm gonna worry about me. I've still got some baseball in this broken body. You know, I've had 18 at bats so far and only three hits, but two of them have left the yard. You only get so many shots at the brass ring, so I'm gonna keep grabbing. But what will I grab? That story has yet to be writ. But maybe you've got some ideas. Please write them below.[fimg=337:jrfd9b7i]http://www.nydailynews.com/resizer/cE1XoRZQkS6NlVDrXdTkhcqev7M=/1400x0/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-tronc.s3.amazonaws.com/public/XLVL27WH244GW7EP3FVIM7ERXE.jpg[/fimg:jrfd9b7i] [fimg=363:jrfd9b7i]https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2018/05/mets.jpg?quality=90&strip=all&w=618&h=410&crop=1[/fimg:jrfd9b7i] [fimg=389:jrfd9b7i]https://sportsnarration.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Mets-analysis-Meet-the-newest-Met-Devin-Mesoraco.jpg[/fimg:jrfd9b7i] [fimg=311:jrfd9b7i]https://imagesvc.timeincapp.com/v3/fan/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Frisingapple.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2Fgetty-images%2F2017%2F07%2F956595302.jpeg&c=sc&w=850&h=560[/fimg:jrfd9b7i]
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 I expect that he will continue to look like a young Rodney Dangerfield.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 I expect that he will get no respect at all. But he may work that to his advantage...
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 In the looks department, he's no Anthony Recker. This guy would have to sneak up on a glass of milk.I hope he hits for power.

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 That hit last night is already more than we had a right to expect in return for Harvey.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Keeps Plawecki on the bench, assuming Plawecki ever returns
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Call me a dreamer, but I'm betting on Plawecki returning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 24, 2018 Author Posted May 24, 2018 I don't know that I've ever seen a Mets catcher return the ball to his pitcher as quickly and aggressively as Mesaraco. (Maybe Grote?) You want something to cut game times? Get a whole lot more of Mesoraco.
