Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 While looking at the projected roster, trying to see who was the most immediately threatened by the arrival of Anthony Swarzak, it quickly appeared to be a choice between Chasen Bradford and Paul Sewald. Looking at their relative performances, it became clear that Sewald was now on the outside looking in.That's a tough enough pill to swallow, but beyond that, Paul looks like he's heading back to minor leagues with a hell of a monkey on his back, having somehow compiled an 0-6 win-loss record during his 65 innings of big league work. That makes Sewald the losingest of all Mets pitchers without a big-league win on their ledger, surpassing oh-and-fiver Colin McHugh on September 19 when AJ Ramos blew a 4-1 lead in the ninth, yielding to Sewald with two outs and the bases loaded. Paulie briefly saved the Mets' necks by striking out the hard-to-get Christian Yelich, only to return for the 10th and grab the loss by surrendering a long, one-out homer off the bat of J.T. Realmuto. Oh and six.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I opened this thread thinking LoDuca was in trouble.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 13, 2017 Author Posted December 13, 2017 Yeah, of all the Pauls in Mets history, Lo Duca is the one that most readily comes to mind when you use the name "Paulie."It's like he should just change his last name to "Walnuts."

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Isn't that funny? So many years ago. We have no idea who he actually is. But left such an impression on our lives.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 First person I envisioned upon reading the thread title was the infamous Paulie Cee of the MOFO. I guess he made an impression on most of us that were around before the CPF existed.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 14, 2017 Author Posted December 14, 2017 Nobody cares about poor Paul Sewald. Sheesh.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I feel like Seaweed most often was better than he actually was, used a whole lot for a guy nobody thought would get 10 innings, and if the stack of acquired releivers and converted starters makes getting a gig hard for him then that's all to the good.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2018 Author Posted May 25, 2018 Paul Sewald, despite pitching more or less successfully most of the year, is now 0-9 on his career. This places him in a category unto himself, with the next most desperate winless pitcher in team history at 0-5.I don't want Mickey to bend over backwards to place him strategically winning positions or nothing, but his teammates better start conspiring to win one for him before something pops in his elbow or thoracic outlet and sends him into the night with such a tilted ledger.
