Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Mike Napoli hit pretty crapoli in 2017, but that was an injury year, his L/R splits are good, he's worked with Callaway in the past, and he might be the righthanded insurance for Dominic Smith that all the kids want, and could probably be had on a one-year deal, or maybe one and an option.A big downside is he doesn't really play anywhere besides first, but he used to be a catcher, and maybe can be an emergency third-stringer back there. Can definitely drag the Mets into bearded age with the big shrub on his face and his WWF pattern baldness.[fimg=700:2a0z0s0r]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0e/Mike_Napoli_in_2017_%2835176934554%29_%28cropped%29.jpg/1200px-Mike_Napoli_in_2017_%2835176934554%29_%28cropped%29.jpg[/fimg:2a0z0s0r]Stories praise him as a leader, but he strikes me as the growly kind.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 impressive beard.hasn't played catcher in 5 years and has never played 3B. I'd pass.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 He does look like the kind of guy who would clobber you with a pie in the face.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 He prolly has some pie in that beard if one would want to dig deep...
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I remember that, assault with some deadly pie.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 he's not even a one dimensional player... he's partly dimensional at best. If they're not going to play Flores at 2b everyday, then he's a better option to platoon at 1b with Smith than Napoli is.
Guest cooby Guests Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Looked it up. John buck what an a hole
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 The best thing about this is, if they're even considering Napoli, it means they're not considering going with eight relievers.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Napoli would be expensive Dominic Smith insurance.Adam Lind would be a better player at a cheaper choice if the Mets go that route.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I would think this is a better plan than anything that includes Napoli:Vs. Right:1B: Smith2B: CabreraSS: Rosario3B: FloresVs. Left:1B: Flores2B: CabreraSS: Rosario3B: Rivera
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I like it if T.J. is physically able. It would keep Cabrera planted at 2B.Who knows?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 I support Flores as much anybody, but I think alternatives that don't count on him and Cabrera being 24-7 players are rich and rewarding things. But we'll see.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 True, a Neil Walker type would be a good fit.Is Jose Reyes totally out of the conversation?
