  1. They should be called the New York Melts because they always melt down and their leads always melt away.
  2. Well, one of the true outcomes was inevitable. Unfortunately, it was the bad one.
  3. After two throw-overs, might as well just walk to second.
  4. Iglesias can be our hero, baby. I remember when he was a BIG prospect back in the day. He was involved in this deal: July 30, 2013: Traded as part of a 3-team trade by the Boston Red Sox to the Detroit Tigers. The Detroit Tigers sent Avisaíl García to the Chicago White Sox. The Detroit Tigers sent Brayan Villarreal to the Boston Red Sox. The Chicago White Sox sent Jake Peavy to the Boston Red Sox. The Boston Red Sox sent Cleuluis Rondon (minors), Frankie Montas and J.B. Wendelken to the Chicago White Sox.
  5. Now foofy Bader comes up with his dorky shoulder shimmy and ridiculous pads.
  6. That ball was Vien-TOAST!
  7. =Fman99 post_id=157670 time=1717457138 user_id=86] Joey Gallo 63 Ks in 119 ABs. Lol he sucks
  8. Reyes, Guetterman and Jackson are all correct! Well done. Three new questions have been added. 1. I'm an ex-Met who was a very very extremely big key The assistant GM from Moneyball got the job thanks to me I also spent some time as a player crosstown I got plunked by an ex-Met that made me go down Who am I? Hint: Mets bench player in 2004, who went to the Orioles partway through the season. --originally posted by "Joe Rigatoni" 2. My Mets career was very small And ineffective, all in all I pitched for them in '93 And those few games were it for me My whole career wasn't fine - My ERA was over nine Who am I? 3. Here's a name you remember, I bet This pitcher was an original Met He was an All-Star twice in his day But as a Met, things went not his way Who is he? 4. In '73, scandal was on the floor Watergate was a big deal in the Court It was on everyone's minds Well, almost everyone's, for Judge Potter Stewart got a note which bore "----- flies to right, Agnew resigns." Who am ----- ? --originally posted by "milladrive" 5. 9. =kcmets post_id=157567 time=1717360232 user_id=53] Anyone happen to hear when the Mets last hit back to back triples? I imagine it's kinda rare.
  10. Bob Bailor is correct! Well done. A new question has been added, with hints for the rest. 1. I pitched for the Mets in their early days And with them I had two different stays And for the record, this should be said: I too pitched for the Bucs, Cards and Reds Who am I? Hint: Pitched for the Mets from 1962 to 1965 and from 1968 to 1969. 2. From west to east I went Spent some time crosstown Then went back west again And there I lingered around Who am I? I was a beloved player, for all that can mean That's what all the fans were hollerin' But the owners were crooks as far as was seen And so I became a Marlin Hint: Played for the Mets from 2003 to 2011 and from 2016 to 2018. --originally posted by "milladrive" 5. 12. Well, ninth inning. Here we go...
  13. Never actually seen Torrens before. I swear, Venezuelans have some of the most European-looking Latin Americans. Former Met Ender Inciarte is another one. Francisco Cervelli also comes to mind.
  14. Nunez is rockin' for now. These past couple years, the Mets have been really good at putting no-name relievers out there that kill it initially for at least a short while. Brigham: First 16 games—2.76 ERA, .130 BAA, 10.5 K/9 Hartwig: First 11 games—2.87 ERA Curtiss: First 6 games—1.23 ERA, .125 BAA Garrett: First 14 games of 2024—0.42 ERA, .169 BAA, 15.0 K/9 First 17 games of 2024—0.72 ERA, .195 BAA, 14.8 K/9 First 21 games of 2024—2.54 ERA, .229 BAA, 13.7 K/9 Reid-Foley: First 6 games of 2023—0.00 ERA, .100 BAA, 16.5 K/9 First 10 games of 2024—0.00 ERA, .037 BAA, 13.0 K/9 First 16 games of 2024—2.25 ERA, .196 BAA, 11.8 K/9 Coonrod: First 7 games—1.69 ERA, .063 BAA
  15. I sincerely hope they're considering making McNeil trade deadline trade bait.
  16. Boy, did Brandon need that. His second triple of the year.

I didn't have much pop But a measure of speed And give me a glove I'd play wherever the need I came from the Jays For Roy Lee, I did Soon no more dark days Once I helped bring in Sid --originally posted by "VIBaseball"
  18. Answering the unanswered: 1. Who am I? https://i.imgur.com/WoNVTru.png> Dick Schofield 2. This is the description from the back of an old baseball card. Who is it describing? "This player is no longer a pure power pitcher, but he can still reach back for "something extra" when he needs it. Among active pitchers, he ranks fifth in baserunners allowed per nine innings (10.69) and sixth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.89)." Hint: Remember, this is from the back of a baseball card, which might be 30 years old. Dwight Gooden 3. Before Hanley Ramirez broke the record in 2007, a one-time Met held the Marlins single-season record for runs scored. Who was it? Cliff Floyd 4. His mark has since been surpassed by multiple pitchers, having first been overtaken by Jason Jennings in 2006, but at one point a one-time Met held the Rockies career record for victories. Who held it before Jennings? Pedro Astacio 5. I was a Met not too long ago A pitcher who they thought could throw I did pretty well, sometimes so-so And now I'm an All-Star for our foe Who am I? Zack Wheeler New questions will be added shortly.
  19. I'm catching up on Mets games. The Mets reeealllllly should trade Garrett now while he still has value. It's diminishing quickly. 10.13 ERA since May 16. 6.08 since the start of May.
  20. The Mets have released Ji Man Choi.
  21. Mets sign minor league reliever Jhosep Chirinos.
  22. As long as they turn that tirade into a t-rade, I'll be happy.
