  1. I hope slugging superstar Luke Ritter, a multipositional talent, gets called up to replace him. McNeil was a .253 hitter since August. Not really gonna miss him. Lot of players on this show "passion." McNeil more frequently shows "petulance."
  2. Magic number to seal up that last Wild Card spot down to 22.
  3. Magic number to clinch that Wild Card spot down to 24.
  4. Wow. Wow. Wow. Can this be real? Braves won, too, unfortunately.
  5. Diaz's ERA since June 1 is 2.61, so though he can be a headache and has meltdowns, in the grand scheme, he's actually simmered down quite a bit since a shaky first part of the year (and, realistically, it was actually more like a shaky two-week stretch in May).
  6. It took me forever to figure out that lighting effect is actually in the stadium and not something the TV people do on the screen.
  7. They brought in a guy with a WHIP near 1.500, this could still be exciting.
  8. Get Rich Hill some tapioca pudding, he looks whooped.
  9. Maybe bringing in a 44-year-old junkballer when the game is on the line isn't the best idea.
  10. Uh oh, there's Edwin "Blown Save" Diaz in the bullpen.
  11. Oh, Winker hit a grand slam. Now I see. Wowza. He was a great acquisition.
  12. I wouldn't say Vientos was a dark horse, since greatness was expected at one point. Iglesias is the obvious choice to me. Torrens is #2, but pretty far back on the list. I don't think much was expected from Garrett, either, come to think of it.
  13. I was sleeping and I missed the fun.
  14. A high-quality strikeout and a high-quality game by what is currently a high-quality team. The magic number to lock up that third Wild Card spot is down to 25.
  15. Haha he got hit in the nards. Oh never mind, not as funny.
  16. Per Bill James' Favorite Toy, a projection tool, Pete Alonso is on pace for nearly 500 career home runs. He just got a little closer. Now hopefully we don't have to see Diaz.
  17. Not really, his WHIP is 1.429 (terrible) and his ERA is 3.86 since the start of August (mediocre) and 5.40 since the start of July (bad). He's been a dud since May. Since May 16, his ERA is 6.11. Garrett is just really, really, really, really lucky.
  18. Those are the sorts of breaks a playoff team manages to achieve.
  19. Getting dicey. That Vientos home run matters that much more. Braves up 3-0 now.
