  1. Magic number to seal up that last Wild Card spot now at 17.
  2. Good job Diaz, a broken clock is right twice a day.
  3. Diaz (dud-lite) is coming in. Oh jeez, anyone with heart conditions, please leave the room immediately.
  4. Ryne Stanek looks like he listens to Slipknot.
  5. Barger sporting the Bo Bichette look.
  6. Francisco Alvarez is still like only 22, of course he's going to be wishy-washy for a while. Alvarez: Not a dud (yet).
  7. JD Martinez: Dud. .518 career slugging mark. .433 slugging percentage this year. Of course, Edgy is a big Diaz and Frank Francisco fan, so he's never been a great gauge of talent.
  8. Gary's really ratcheting up the Kermit the Frog impersonation as the season progresses.
  9. Good blast by Alvarez. Martinez averages, 2018-2023: 27 home runs, 88 RBI, 77 runs. Including the very short 2020. This year: 16 home runs, 69 RBI, 43 runs, not even 100 hits. Martinez is a waste of money. Could have spent that money more wisely. Like better relief pitchers, so we wouldn't be in the barely-scratching-our-way-there mess we're in right now.
  10. Martinez is kind of a dud. Not living up to his name. 33 home runs, 103 RBI last year. 16 home runs, 69 RBI this year. Only played four more games last year than he has this year.
  11. Martinez has underwhelmed all year.
  12. =Cowtipper post_id=169698 time=1726089535 user_id=166] Grand slamboni coming up.
  13. Pablo Reyes appeared in one game in like two weeks and no-name Alvarez comes out of nowhere and has already appeared in more games than Reyes.
  14. Francis looks blue. Gotta feel for him, though. *This* close to a no-hitter twice and he muffs it both times. Poor fella. He's going to be thinking about that pitch until he is 93 years old.
  15. I thought this was going to be another sad 9/11 for New York, but thankfully not.
  16. No names like Bowden Francis don't get no-hitters when they face hot hitters like Lindor this late in the game. 100/100 things have to go right for that to happen, and it never happens.
  17. Here comes Lindor! Home run incoming.
  18. Adam Kolarek, who pitched for the Mets in 2023, had a 6.97 ERA in 31 relief appearances for the Angels Triple-A team at Salt Lake. He had a 9.6 K/9, but also a 1.968 WHIP. He was released August 13. Khalil Lee, who played for the Mets in 2021 and 2022, began 2024 with the Dorados de Chihuahua in Mexico, but after hitting .154 in three games, was released in mid-April. Dominic Leone, who pitched for the Mets in 2023, is 0-2 with a 6.63 ERA in 23 appearances for the White Sox. He also had a 4.50 ERA in 4 relief appearances for their Triple-A club at Charlotte. He's currently on the 60-day IL.
  19. Borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng. This game sucks!!!!!!111
  20. Magic number to seal up that last Wild Card spot still at 18. To seal up the second Wild Card spot: 20. To seal up the first Wild Card spot: Also 20.
  21. Seaver, Segui and Carreon are correct. Well done! 1. Who am I? From the back of a baseball card: "This player could have complained about the Mets for moving him back to third base, a position where he is admittedly less comfortable. But he didn't. Instead, he had a .500-plus slugging percentage for the third time in his career and played surprisingly well defensively." Who am I?
