  1. Having Oliver Perez start a postseason game would seriously bum me out.
  2. ="Yancy Street Gang"]Mets record in 2006 in games started by Pedro Martinez (11-12) and Orlando Hernandez (11-9): 22-21 (.512) Mets record in 2006 in games started by Steve Trachsel (20-10), Tom Glavine (24-8) and John Maine (10-5): 54-23 (.701) This is my new mantra.
  3. FAN said Maine in Game 1 if Duque can't go.

  5. Just cause Duque's down doesn't mean the Dodgers are all of a sudden world beaters. It's not like Koufax and Drysdale still pitch for them. Maddux, Lowe and Penny are not invincible by any stretch and I still think Little's gonna get burned by starting the rookie. Glavine should be able to give us 5 or 6 innings, Maine's been more than serviceable and its not out of the realm of possibility to get a gem from Trax. I'd be more concerned if we made it to the next round and still were w/o Duque. Bring the Dodgers on, the only reason they are in the playoffs in the first place is becase they got hot at the right time in a mediocre league.
  6. Yeah, Connecticut wouldn't allow it either but if it did it would look like this... Or maybe this version would be better ...
  7. Like it says on my license plate - STEMOGSTEL So peeps know I'm coming in their rearview mirror.
  8. They're GRRRRRRRRREAT!
  9. Pods. Family in San Diego has kind of made the place 'soupcan west'. I can see myself retiring there and going to many Padres games.
  10. Twins. Gardenhire.
  11. I've got a nice smile.
  12. Here's a weak one - 1986 Mets ended the regular season on a multi-game win streak (5) 2006 Mets ended the regular season on a multi-game win streak (4)
  13. I hear ya but that's a big leap of faith in my book. I've gotta believe that Grady will have an itchy trigger finger should Kuo get into early trouble though. Or, knowing Grady, maybe not.
  14. You'd start the rook over Maddux in Game 2?
  15. Johnny Dickshot wrote: Grady is starting a lefty with 10.7 K/9 vs. the Mets. He's no dummy. 6 innings. That's a pretty small sample size to use to justify starting this guy. I know he's got something like 107 Ks in 78 innings but strikeout pitchers get hit too and this Mets team can hit. I wouldn't do it. P.S. I'm hearing on the radio that Maddux is the Game 2 starter.

I'm sure I've told this story before - Jackie Robinson night, whatever year that was '97, '98 - I'm sitting in my seat and Bud Harrelson plops himself right down in box next to mine. i'm literally rubbing elbows with the guy. I tell him what a big fan I am, etc., etc., and he's very nice, very courteous, a really super guy. I noticed his WS ring and asked if I could take a closer look. He took it off his finger and handed it to me. Then he got up and walked away up the aisle into the bowels of the stadium. I'm sitting there with his WS ring in my hand and he's gone. About an inning or so later (seriously he was gone that long) he comes back and I give him back the ring. 'Bud, you just gave me your ring without having any idea who I was and walked away. For all you know I could have left with it.' 'Ahh, big deal' he says 'that's the '86 ring. '69 is home with my dad, no one gets to touch that one.'

  18. Reyes - 10 Beltran - 9 Wright - 8 LoDuca - 7 Delgado - 6 Glavine - 5 O. Hernandez - 4 Valentin - 3 Chavez - 2 Wagner - 1
  19. I think its a mistake for the Dodgers to start him based on those 6 innings he threw. Much has been said about the Mets being vulnerable to lefties once X-Man was dealt but it also happened to coincide with Wright cooling off. Wright is no longer cool. As Dickshot said, that was the rook's only win. Grady Little has decided to start a rookie with a less than impressive resume against a superior offensive team in the postseason. Time will tell if this guy is still as clueless about postseason pitching as he was 3 years ago. Bring the kid on and the Mets dominance will remain...... Status Quo.
  20. I will also be at Game 1 tomorrow. The 4:00 start is pretty perfect for me as it makes it easier for my son to go to a playoff game and miss the minimum amount of school. I'm coming into work in the morning. My friend will pick up my 9 year-old from school at about 12:30 pm and I will met them both at the The Big Shea. Will be maybe my 8th postseason game at Shea. I don't think my record's too good, maybe .500, but this year I've got the facial hair working it.
  21. Underwear drawer.
  22. I know a few little league games in my town you could go to if you're that desparate. Yankee Stadium? Sheesh.
  23. Megalomaniac I think would be more apropos, no?
  24. Gary was saying something about Wright having done something that only Mel Ott and Joe DiMaggio had done previously. I think it was consecutive seasons of .300 and 100 RBIs before age 24. Anyone catch that?
  25. I now have nice l'il goatee going and not so coincidentally it has coincided with the Mets modest 3-game streak. It has also coincided with the Pedro-Lastings-Trachsel debacles, but hey wins are wins.
