  1. Every Tingler knows that someday he will be Rojased. Some are merely Booning for now.
  2. Every conversation between fans about potential managers ever.
  3. He sucks. Let's hire A. A sucks. He doesn't how to win. Hire B! B sucks. He's a loser. Hire C. C doesn't know squat, compared to A. I say hire A. A is a dumbass, and so are B and C. Hire D. I think I decline to participate in this conversation.
  4. Face it. No one knows squat about which manager, which type of manager, which general philosophy of manager, or anything else about managing a MLB club, to hire. Rojas could have been brilliant or the world's largest dumbass, and his worst enemy or best friend wouldn't have known what he did wrong or right. No one knows nothing about managing.

I do know that I could think of 100 folks who might be in about 10 or 15 minutes. Decided to bang it out between innings. With a better sense of humor, Edgy woulda stuck a "Albert Speer" or "Tennessee Ernie Ford" in there just to see who was paying attention. And since I'm not, maybe he did just that.
  6. Don't forget "San"--one of my favorite Franciscos.
  7. Who are these guys and what have they done to the real Mets offense?
  8. I might substitute "technically" for "fucking" but that's just the kind of guy I am.
  9. Happened again last night, if you care. Bottom of the second, swinging bunt with a man on first, lefty shift on, and the ball got by Stro's glove. J.D. Davis, playing 3B but positioned near second, immediately gathered the loose ball but ON HIS WAY TO THE BALL had to start pointing frantically to 3B, telling Stro to get his ass over there. Fortunately, the runner safe at 2B was a catcher, Sandy Leon, but if it had been a speedster, we would have seen another footrace to the 3B bag.
  10. Ya kinda want to see a full-body extension leap there, don't ya? Unless you're thinking, "Well, the season is shot anyway, I could get hurt, it's entirely possible I wouldn't catch it anyway, and they ain't paying me enough for this shit." You know, sorta like us here. Can't blame him, but staying on his feet is a big sign reading "2021 Season is OVER, people. Stop kidding yourself." Yes, I know how to read.
  11. Agee would have caught it.
  12. They keep replaying Jeter's shovel pass down here, and I keep thinking "Giambi was safe!" You'd almost think the fuckin' guy owned the team or something.
  13. Oh, boy, I get to watch this one in person!!!
  14. Well, "staub" is german for "dust" but that doesn't really help, does it?
  15. Old joke, about a Yale man washing up after using the urinal, and the sneering Harvard guy not washing up "Because at Harvard we're instructed how not to piss on our hands." I thought everybody had heard that one.
  16. Directions in which you can take a piss?
  17. The point is, anything screws up--a dropped transfer, a wild toss, a hard slide--and Soto's got 3B easy. Pitcher can't be a spectator with the shift on. I wouldn't be making anything of this, probably, if there weren't all these raves about Stro's heads-up fielding on that play. It was heads-up. Head's up his ass. I hope someone mentions that to him after the play.
  18. Yes, that's the idea--keeping the runner on 2B by covering the 3B bag. A slightly less good throw, or slightly less agility in applying the tag, Soto's safe at 3B (and that's probably the ballgame as it turned out). Seems to me with the shift so routinely causing 3B to go uncovered, that should be the standard, P covers 3B routinely on a shift. He's just a spectator on the mound otherwise.
  19. OK, the internet went berserk over Stroman beating Soto to 3B today, and tagging him out on the run, and all--I froze the tag to see if he really got a glove on him, and yes he did! OUT! Gold Glove for Stro! Fantastic heads-up play! Only...if you freeze it a few seconds earlier, not so much. With 3B uncovered, and Soto sliding into 2B, Stro should have been at least walking (I think hustling) over to 3B on the bare possibility (which soon turned into reality) that Soto would try for 3B if he were safe at 2B. IOW, he made a spectacular play out of what could have been a routine play, by looking at 3B instead of covering it as soon as he could have.
  20. =kcmets post_id=74650 time=1629082862 user_id=53] Thought the Mets were at least second tier. After this weekend I guess they are third tier and only when they're lucky.
  21. Alonso didn't think that last one was a strike. Neither did I. Where did this pinstripes-on-the-bottom and bright-blue-tops come from? It looks like something the cat puked up
  22. But let's fling some at 'em anyway!
  23. When I was younger, I used to confuse Cary Gooper with Gary Crant.
  24. If the Mets had come up with a caucasian teenager with a dynamite fastball in the mid-1980s, would he have been nicknamed "The White Gooden"?
  25. The solution to speeding up the game is simple: before each game, you make known the two teams' average game time for the season to date. (For game #1, use last year's average game time.) Let it be known that in the event of a tie after 9, the victory will go to the team with the lower average game-time. Problem solved.
