  1. SNY sez triceps injury. Better than UCL? https://sny.tv/articles/mets-aj-minter-injury-update-nationalshttps://sny.tv/articles/mets-aj-minter-injury-update-nationals Worse than forearm?
  2. Yeah, all GameDay says is ' injury delay"
  3. Lefty Specialist wrote: McNeil in CF scares the crap outta me. What, you thought they were playing him in CF in rehab just to fuck around with us? They think he can play out there.
  4. This https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110308/?ref_=nmbio_mbio is.
  5. Makes me wish for a new rule: each team gets ten challenges per season where they can demand that non-reviewable things (strikes/balls, ump's judgment, fair/foul. etc.) get reviewed by Chelsea, no matter how much the umps on the field wish they wouldn't. Even one challenge per season (renewable if correct, not if not) would be a huge improvement on what we have.
  6. Entrenched arrogance from the days before we had six camera angles on every play.
  7. Shitfuck, as Joe Schulz used to say.
  8. GameDay says we're hitting a lot of line drives. Soft ones? Or are we hitting the ball hard but just at people?
  9. All GameDay told me was "injury delay" but who? Friend or foe?
  10. I like Murph in the booth.
  11. Well, of course, there is Taylor. And I think Nimmo would do okay in CF, based on the athleticism he displayed in LF vs. the Phillies. And McNeil has been taking some reps in CF, the quality of which has yet to be determined. And Acuna has some experience out there as well. So it's hardly "We depend on Azocar to play CF for us."
  12. We've got 5 lefties to face their righty. They've got 7 facing ours.
  13. The intelligent question to ask at this point is: have the Mets lost patience with Baty? If they're willing, as some have suggested, to deal him off after he puts in another strong showing at AAA, I think they're harming themselves, as they have in the past, dealing (or dumping) other promising infielders for not much in return, usually veterans who had a little (sometimes nothing) left in the tank. I'm thinking Justin Turner, Melvin Mora, Jeff Kent, Gregg Jefferies, Jose Oquendo, Marco Scutaro, Ty Wigginton, all of whom went on to perform as regulars, most as All-Stars, after the Mets lost patience waiting for them to deliver. You need to ask yourself “Why do other teams tend to snatch such players up?” Answers are: Because the cost of doing so isn't very great, and because all of these players have exhausted the Mets' patience, neither of which is a convincing reason for the Mets to let them go cheap. People will sometimes claim “change of scenery” or “different managerial approach” as a good reason, but I've never bought that. I think other teams are willing to see the potential these younger players have that they haven't fulfilled yet, and it's a way for them to pick up a potential star in exchange for very little (or just a few $$$$). What I wouldn't give to have Armstrong-Crow in CF for the Mets right now.

  15. Not too concerned, although they're now top heavy with corner outfielders. I'd rather have seen Azocar or a reliever sent down instead of Baty, of course, but this may just be a temporary move until they need another infielder , allowing Baty to get some playing time for the next few weeks. He'll be back.
  16. Thanks for trying, Thing. It's a thankless task, but thanks anyway.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: After a day off in their own beds Interestingly, they didn't do the off-day in NY. They flew to Dulles Wednesday evening. Odd to have a one-city road trip too - they're right back in NY on Tuesday. Thursday a sightseeing day in DC?
  18. Edgy MD wrote: I amn't sure there is anyone here old enough to see TV coverage and broadcasting of games as an innovation, let alone a lamentable one. If anything, most of our lifetimes has seen starkly reduced TV coverage in favor of cablecasting/webcasting/streaming. That was kind of what I was trying to get at: the way games are available (or not) during our lifetimes,
  19. I realize I didn't include some of the more offensive, dumber, ideas that got introduced but dropped like the 7-inning doubleheaders. Are there fans who supported this nonsense? It seems that Manfred's been on a crusade to destroy my interest in the game. What an asshole. I like the idea of a pitch clock because players were just fucking around all the time, and the game had gotten draggy and boring, but my preferred way of dealing with it was simply to do nothing, but to enforce the rule about the ump being the only one to call time out, and then instructing umps not to grant time outs. If you're not in the batter's box, the pitcher can throw a strike anyway, and when you step out between pitches, the same. No automated pitch clock, no need to make sure the batter's eye is locked with the pitcher's, nothing. Just get up there and be prepared to hit the whole time. A faster, more competitive, and better game.
  20. Probbly right, Lunchbucket, but I've found that stupid votes in polls tend to get discouraged by announcing a run-off in advance. This bunch may be smart enough to avoid deliberate stupid votes.
  21. =metsmarathon post_id=190696 time=1745526485 user_id=83] Ghost runner is the most unbaseballish rule change.
  22. Adapted from Ben Grimm's list. If your personal bete-noire is not on here, choose "other" and specify. Once we have top-votegetters, I'll post a runoff poll. And then a secondary poll of innovations we like.
  23. Under "FAQ" it says to find the polling option below the main posting form, but I don't see it, there or anywhere. Could someone tell me where to look more specifically?
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: And he's signed through 2030, so it would be great if he could figure things out. He's only a month past his 32nd birthday, so he's a bit too young to be washed up, but you never know. He looked kinda spectacular yesterday in the field, two great difficult catches.
  25. Bradley R. Lord (his real name) was also the name of the NY Mammoth's obsequious flunky (is there any other kind of flunky?) Road Secretary (or some such title) in Mark Harris's masterful novel Bang the Drum Slowly.
