Yes, any fact contrary to reality as expressed by Ed Coleman on the air as true should be attributed to the malfunction of his mouth, despite his best intentions. This explains a lot. Except the part about what such an incompetent eunuch is doing speaking for a living. Is your defense really going to be "Your honor, my client doesn't know what he's saying. All sorts of crap spews from his mouth all the time. He can't help it."? The change from the word "season" to "week" is not nearly significant as you are making it out to be.

  4. abogdan wrote: What's more fun than two people engaging in a pointless argument on a message board? When one of their avatars is so screwed up that it makes the entire thread practically unreadable. Thanks. There's no such thing as a pointless argument on a message board.
  5. Bret Sabermetric wrote: ="Elster88"] any innocuous statement of Ed's (which is completely true) . Except it's false. To characterize Beltran as being notably relaxed "this season" is either to be clueless, inattentive, a lying nosepicker, or blind. if he would have said "this week," I would have agreed. Or maybe he just misspoke? He could be a truthful nosepicker. ]What you also don't get, Elster, is that my cardiologist recommends venting on the Mets to ease my blood pressure. My posts are all done under careful medical supervision. In that case, you must have the heart rate of a champion marathon runner. If it keeps you healthy, god bless.
  6. No further damage. Let's score some more.
  7. Bret Sabermetric wrote: ="Elster88"]Either way, I'd cut Ed a little more slack. I'm sure you would. Allow me to respond in kind: I'm sure you'll take any innocuous statement of Ed's (which is completely true) and write an unnecessarily hostile, three-paragraph diatribe while your blood pressure rises to dangerous levels. And you just got done complaining about people ripping into the Mushnick article in the exact same manner. It's amazing what a hypocrite you are. Shocking, really.
  8. seawolf17 wrote: ="Elster88"]]when he was whining about the boos, and bitching about the love he needed from those rotten stinking demanding fans? You're exaggerating. Eh, maybe not as much as usual. Willie Randolph addressed that on M&MD regarding the curtain call issue yesterday; he basically said that Beltran was upset at the fans with the boos, and that might have been the reason why he originally ignored the curtain call. Maybe. I heard that too, didn't think Willie really made it seem like Beltran was overly upset. I may have misinterpreted it. In that case, it's also possible that he got more relaxed over the past few days, and that is what Ed Coleman is remarking on. Either way, I'd cut Ed a little more slack.

  10. Livan Hernandez removed (neck) from the 4/13 game with the Mets in the third inning. He was diagnosed with whiplash at an area hospital two hours later.
  11. ESPN.com's Gamecast is completely revamped. Three thumbs up.
  12. 31 pitches through 2. Not bad Victor. 7 innings, 105 pitches would be nice. A few more runs, let Julio or Bradford do mop up, save the bullpen. Make it happen.
  13. ]With Chris Woodward batting, Jose Reyes caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Brian Schneider to first baseman Nick Johnson to second baseman Jose Vidro. Jose picked off first by the catcher?
  14. Floyd going yard is the most pleasing out of the three home runs. With Nady and LoDuca (presumably) coming back to earth, we need him to pick up the slack. Beltran too, of course.
  15. seawolf17 wrote: ="Rotblatt"]I thought it was supposed to be HARD to hit a home run in Washington. Not off this pitching staff. Livan, at least, is a good pitcher.

  17. Either or, makes no difference to me.
  18. I'm going to repost the lineups for posterity. If OlerudOwned ever removes that picture in his ImageShack account, or if ImageShack shuts down, we'll lose the lineups.
  19. A better option is to bat Woodward (or Valentin) 7th and to move everyone else up one spot in the lineup. But Willie would rather stick with his own dumb idea then admit that one that everyone else realizes is better.
  20. Not to throw too much cool water on Beningo's steaming head, but from listening at lunch time it sounded like he saw intelligence in Pedro in 3 things: a) letting the players hit the ball to the deepest parts of the park recognizing the need for a strikeout with bases load and no outs c) recognizing the need for a double play with the bases loaded and one out These are not examples of extraordinary intelligence. His ability to make induce all three of these is extraordinary. But, regarding the thought process, I don't see anything here that Jorge Julio wouldn't have been able to figure out. The difference is that Pedro made it happen. Of course relative to Beningo's intelligence level, these might be amazing insights into the game of baseball.

What I meant above is that I agree that I'd have liked them to trade Seo and Benson for other players than what they got. Though I'm liking the Seo trade more and more every day. Johnny Dickshot wrote: And Anderson Hernandez' poor hitting is hurting this team... fortunately it hasn't shown up in the results yet. That's what I meant.

  23. Like I said, I didn't get the cliche myself. As for the ripping into articles, I usually read what someone writes, have a laugh, and go about my business. Off the top of my head, I rarely respond to them. I don't take the time to see if the person who is doing the ripping is correct. My only non-conformist behavior regarding such ripping is to defend Jeter and ARod.
