  1. My apologies. Next time I'll put "(at least so far)" in at least two of the sentences in my three-sentence post.

I liked it. I like both Barry Pepper and Thomas Jane. I really liked how they made a couple of reporters look like assholes. Just like real life!

That said, we should be able to get more than a mediocre reliever for him, no? Maybe not. Elster88 wrote: I voted dislike. Even though I'm not in love with Seo, I wouldn't have made this deal. A mediocre reliever and a prospect were the return for a decent starter and our own prospect. Elster88 wrote: ]Hillbilly makes the best argument for the Seo trade, which is hopefully the reasoning Omar had. "Seo is nothing special and Sanchez will help the bullpen." I say hopefully because other proposed motivations are ethnic cleansing and personal animosity. I was wrong (at least so far), because I thought Sanchez was "mediocre". At least I didn't curse out this trade the way I did the Benson/Julio deal. Hillbilly and heep are the winners, they liked the trade.

I guess he could've Americanized it. Most likely the baseball announcers never knew how to speak anything but English. But the proper pronunciation for the letter a is the same in Spanish and Italian. Very romantic and all.
  6. Your picks are 0 for 2 in getting the job done. Time to give someone else a chance to pick the starter. But let's enjoy the win.
  7. FASTEST TEAM IN HISTORY TO GET A 5 GAME LEAD IN THE STANDINGS!!!!
  8. Fibber. I'm John Olerud!!!! (35)
  9. How come they all pronounce Franco correctly with Julio but never did with Johnnie B.?
  10. Geez this is fucking exciting. Win or lose, a great time to be a Met fan.

  12. I hate being right. Doesn't he have to stay down for ten games or something? Or five?
  13. Nymr83 wrote: He can sure field though and i don't mind having a "Rey Ordonez" at league minimum salary. Give him another month, then lets see Keppinger. Cairo last year. This year Hernandez. Keppinger next. When will you kids learn? EDIT: BTW, this idea of giving him ANOTHER month is fairly stupid. Now Floyd and Beltran both have questionable health. We can't afford to carry Andy's bat. (Not that we could in the first place.)
  14. An unusual decision with Beltran out for a couple of days. Woody can always step in. Or out, as it were.
  15. I don't think Al got to 200. Edit: I was right.
  16. Well, whatever. As long as it was special.
  17. I like curtain calls, but mostly for special home runs. Like game winners (well maybe not game winners since then everyone is dancing on the field) but maybe game tiers or game take-the-leaders, etc.
  18. I didn't like the home run dance that Delgado and Reyes did. I don't like that crap. Do it in the dugout, fine.
  19. Flee in terror!
  20. Keith was on the FAN today. They called him to ask where he was. It sounded like he said Florida (so unless he misspoke he wasn't in the Barbados). He said he watched on DirecTV, so he didn't miss anything. He called Lo Duca "De Luca" the first time, started to say De Luca a second time but he corrected himself. Nothing interesting.
  21. Steroids don't work that way. It's not like if you stop taking steroids that all of a sudden all the muscle you built up will disappear. You'll still be well above the strength you were at when you started juicing. -------------- So what I'm saying is, just because Giambi and Bonds stopped taking steroids, if they indeed stopped, it doesn't mean they'll stop hitting balls to the moon. What's more likely is that they will get an injury that will take them a long-ass time to recover from, because another benefit of steroids is that you heal more quickly.

Nymr83 wrote: I think juiced balls are a given, Seaver opened one up on the air once and said it was far more tightly bound than balls from his era, with a rubber core that didnt used to be there. I don't remember who it was, Jim Palmer maybe, who said that you used to be able to pinch the ball and the surface would come up.
  23. This from the guy who hates Kaz Matsui because it means Joel Cairo (still haven't figured out who Joel Cairo is) and Doug Minky can't be far behind.
  24. vtmet wrote: I think today's game is a good example for the "which is more important, runs scored or OBP" debate...most people argue that OBP is a more important stat, and that a high OBP leads to runs and that a low OBP doesn't...I'm not so sure that Bannister and the Brewers would agree with that side of the argument...Bannister allowed 11 baserunners in 5 innings with only 1 run allowed (WHIP of 2.2, ERA less than 2)...and the Brewers had 17 batters reach base but only 3 crossed the plate (2 of them from a HR)... I think yesterday's game was a good example of how great a pitcher Jorge Julio is. He gave up a shot, sure, but he buckled down, got the outs he needed and didn't give up any runs. We should move him to closer.
  25. I don't see a link to a Taguchi play on that page.
