  1. You see where Jeter was behind the plate while waiting "on deck" during Ichiros at bat? I guess he wants a good look at Oswalt, but that was rediculous.
  2. Chase Utley on being an NL All Star and playing along side other players from the NL East: " I guess we'll all be friends for the day, but after the break...... I dont think so."
  3. Elster88 wrote: I like David just a little less after seeing that player profile. HA! So he likes pastels. That was pretty lame tho. It was like a commercial for FOX with the 24 rap.
  4. I guess the mets are gonna have to do it all.....
  5. I was jokin about loDuke cuz penny shook him off afew times in the 1st. But he's shakin off anything but the fast ball from LoDuca-- wait- he makes me a lyer and tosses up a curve--nice curve too. Interesting start- Penny almost ties the record of 4 Ks to start the game, but A Rod ruins it with a groundout. OMG-- I cant believe it--Guerrero will swing at anything and he takes a high fast ball out of the K zone and smacks an opposite field homer. Unbelievable- 1-0 AL.
  6. hey-at least they printed Ralphs name on the screen (former Pirates All Stars graphic). Pujols and Bay strand Beltran.
  7. Yeaaaaaaa baby Beltran with the 1st NL hit, a wicked double down the 3rd base line.
  8. I dont believe in the jinxes- i think this is great. Great photo too.
  9. Elster88 wrote: Now I'm hoping the Dodgers don't make the playoffs. Can you say Hershiser? awwww, how can you go and remind me of '88. ya bastage. Penny strikes out the side- impressive, but i credit his catcher for only calling for da heat.
  10. metirish wrote: FOX are now doing a bit on Pittsburgh and some of the great players that have played for the Pirates, no mention of Ralph Kiner yet..... Yea--that aint right. Idiots. No signs for the NL team--Garner says "strut your stuff." Guillan says " Im playin this like its game 7 of the world series." No mention of his strategy so he must have one.
  11. Edgy DC wrote: Anybody want to talk about how crazy Kenny Rogers' career is? We're talking about 1999. Who would have taken a bet then that he'd be playing anything but Strat-O-Matic today, let alone starting the All Star Game? It is crazy. He keeps reinventing himself. Even this season I figured 2nd time thru the league he'd get touched up good and end up with a mediocre first half. The guys pretty incredible. I still have this mental picture of him servin up that walk off walk as a Met tho, ('99 playoffs vs Atl) and I get a lil sick. He walked him and then just kept right on walkin off the mound to the clubhouse. Season over. UGH.
  12. Fantastic report. Thanx for this Steve. It was unexpected. I usually dont know that much about the AL,----nor do i care to-- tho fantasy baseball has somewhat changed all a that. I have Hafner in my brothers league and its amazing with the numbers he has posted that he dont make the cut. Im sure the fact that he's only a DH is a factor, and thats really not fair. Cuz that guy can rake man.
  13. ...and Gary Carter goes KaBoom in the celebrity softball game. This has been a rather enjoyable night.
  14. metirish wrote: That sign he hit apparently gave some lucky fan 500 free flights to somewhere. Yea-I read the sign earlier in the contest when they gave it a close up. On the last KaBoom of the night too. Thats a trip. Actually, 500 trips.
  15. SteveJRogers wrote: Anyone worried about the Abreu factor? Was that ever proven? Here on the radio seems like everyone thought Abreu's lousy second half was due to his 41 HR performance during last years derby Ive been worried about this since I heard Wright was in it. But I think he will be okay. This contest was short and sweet. Those were lil looping pitches LoDuca was serving up- I dont see how they could mess up his swing. He wont see many pitches like those in the 2nd half.
  16. Wowzers! Howard just put it up a notch and hit some BOMBS! That one over center! wow He hit the sign in the last one? Wow. Good show.
  17. balls! he only gets 4.
  18. The Big O wrote: Stat check: LoDuca has given up fewer homers than Lima so far this year. lol. I say if Wright can hit 6 he will win it.
  19. Just got a call from a Philly fan friend--he says Howard will out homer Wright, np. I said put yer $$$ where yer mouth is- so i got ten bucks on this now. lol.
  20. Whoops--i spoke too soon. Howards puttin on a show now.
  21. I imagine after a time just holding the bat up with your arms must become tireing. An all NL final. i really thought Ryan Howard was gonna smack alot more. Wright has the lead-amazin!
  22. lol--they keep cuttin his mic cuz hes sayin DAMN. I do believe he was robbed here in the second round! That kid shouldnt be jumping at the fence for the catch! Only 2 this round. I like that the 1st round homers hold over this year- he still has a tini cushion. Wright does look tired tho. Thats got to take alot out of ya.
  23. ScarletKnight41 wrote: That was a fun round. Notice how none of the commentators picked him for anything prior to the start of the contest. FU Berman! I hate to admit i did not expect him to do that well. I was just hopin he'd hit afew and put on a decent show for Met fans. But he showed the whole country a lil somethin there.
  24. Wow! 16 in the first round. Impressive. And LoDuca doin the pitching! I love it.
