  6. I Still Believe (Great Design) I been in a cave For forty days Only a spark To light my way I wanna give out I wanna give in This is our crime This is our sin But I still believe I still believe Through the pain And the grief Through the lies Through the storms Through the cries And through the wars Oh, I still believe Flat on my back Out a sea Hopin' these waves Don't cover me I'm turned and tossed Upon the waves When the darkness comes I feel the grave But I still believe I still believe Through the cold And the heat Through the pain And through the tears Through the crowds And through the cheers Oh, I still believe I'll march this road I'll climb this hill Down on my knees if I have to I'll take my place Up on this stage I'll wait 'til the end of time for you like everybody else I'm out on my own Walkin' the streets Look at the faces That I meet I feel like I Like I want to go home What do I feel What do I know But I still believe I still believe Through the shame And through the grief Through the heartache Through the years Through the waiting Through the years For people like us In places like this We need all the hope That we can get Oh, I still believe from Reconciled written by Michael Been and Jim Goodwin published by Neeb / Tarka Music / Tileface Music all rights reserved

BTW, Abreu's run as a MFY, as well as Ryan Howard's post ASG performance would take the Home Run Derby excuse out of the argument for post HRD slumps FOREVER! (it won't of course) Abreus HR drought since the '05 ASG is what started the whole thing.
  9. Take that Cleon!

  11. Charlie got tossed- u see the gum fall out of his mouth when he was arguing? I guess it could have been worse. It could have been his false teeth, lol. Was anyone else as rattled as I was when Reyes smooshed his hand, head first sliding into second on that steal earlier? Looked to be out, too. Great relief job by both Feliciano and Bradford. After 7 and a half its 4-3 Phils Mets gotta get something going.
  12. Whoops--im slippin: Really nice to see Beltran homer from the right side. Really nice.
  13. SteveJRogers wrote: ="Zvon"]="metirish"]Why no talk about Howard for MVP? It would be typical that the Mets would make the post season and have a bonifide MVP candidate, and a Phils player ends up snaggin it. That wouldnt surprise me at all. Im conditioned that way thru yrs of being a Met fan. I was 9 at the time, did Schmidt really that THAT big of a year that it didn't matter how far in back the Phils were the writers were going to give him the award? Was it an anti-NY thing or something goofy like the 1998 MFYankees claim they had "25 MVPs" so no Met really stood out? I honestly dont know what their thinking was. Schmidt did have a monster year, but I didnt think he deserved it. But of course I wanted a Met to get it. And its true that the Mets functioned better as a team. Ray Knight wasnt gonna win an MVP, but he may have been our MVP that season. Carter had a decent season- some nice numbers. I havent hated too many players in all my years watching baseball. I grew to hat Michael Jack Schmidt.

Four more dingers and he passes Mike Schmidt and becomes the Phils single season all time home run leader. 15. The wind didnt stop Howards blast that time. UGH..... 2 run homer by Ryan, his 45th.
  16. Woodwards trying to give Cleon something to talk about. Good thing he recovers quickly after booting the grounder by Victorino, and throws him out.
  17. Edgy DC wrote: A small part of me wonders if the Mets are stroking his bad self enough. Put come on. You're 21and lucky to be a part of a special season. Ask Jose Reyes about the team he broke through with some time. A small part of me thinks that the Mets are intentionally trying to teach the youngster a lesson. Prospect or no, the team does not revolve around him. He's just another bit part-a role player- a rook playing/hoping for a roster slot. Nothing is a givin at this level. Ya gotta do the do.
  18. Von Hayes also got a rep as a Met masher. As did RF Glenn Wilson, for a short time.
  19. Some Phils phacts: Phils have homered in 15 straight games against the Mets. So far this year they are 7-9 against the Mets, and would have to sweep this weekend, their last meeting, to take the season series. ___________________________________________________________ Bannister walks Lieberthal to start off the second, then settles down and gets three quick outs.
  20. Shaky 1st inning for the rusty Bannister. I do think Delgado should have made the play that resulted in the second hit of the game, off Victorino. Most firstbasemen would have fielded that ball. CarlosD will just have to make up for that at the plate.
  21. Whew--Howard just crushed one but the wind holds it in the park. Victorino tags- 2-0 Phils
  22. Bannister looking rusty....... 1st two Phils reach on back to back singles. Make that back to back to back as Utley singles home Rollins.
  23. KC wrote: Jeez, if you catch the Lastings small q&a on SNY you'd think the Mets killed his puppy ... dude, you'll be back in ten days ... I'm starting to think he thinks he's entitled to something he hasn't earned yet. This is a shaping up to be a championship caliber team (ignoring the smoke and mirrors pitching thing we got going on) and rook has to be patient and know his place. I agree. Its not like he was contributing all that much. He certainly had the opportunity to win and hold a starting spot.
  24. Valentin still tender?
  25. I may just whip up a spoof song of The Curly Shuffle and call it The HeathBell Shuttle
