  3. Well, lets hope they heard Edgy and know that they need to score ,..lets see, what inning is it?..hmmm.. 14 more runs.
  4. ok, this is trouble. Don't want to go to the pen this early, but...
  5. Fuckin Church. Don't take that out of context Sister Regina Rose.

  7. yeehaaa-Bacsik chased in the 3rd. Teixeira just clocked one to center and cuts the Phils lead in half, 4-2.
  8. So Humber gives up a one out triple and does not allow that run to score? Alls I can say is: oh, and
  9. bmfc1 wrote: 3d inning...runner on 2d, two out, Howard up (so similar to the first) and Howard gets the IBB. Rowand grounds to Chipper who throws it away. 2-0. Im watching this game. That damn Utley had a lot to do with that, kind of tempting Chipper to try and get him. Phils score 2 more and its 4-0 there.
  10. Ecko in eternity? Bonds record ball to get asterisk brand Sep. 26, 2007 CBSSports.com wire reports NEW YORK -- The ball Barry Bonds hit for his record-breaking 756th home run will be branded with an asterisk and sent to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Fashion designer Marc Ecko, who bought the ball in an online auction, set up a website for fans to vote on the ball's fate, and Wednesday announced the decision to brand it won out over the other options -- sending it to Cooperstown unblemished or launching it into space. Ecko said he believed the vote to brand the ball showed people thought "this was shrouded in a chapter of baseball history that wasn't necessarily the clearest it could be." Ecko, whom Bonds called "an idiot" last week, had the winning bid Sept. 15 in the online auction for the ball that Bonds hit Aug. 7 to break Hank Aaron's record of 755 home runs. The final selling price was $752,467, well above most predictions that assumed Bonds' status as a lightning rod for the steroids debate in baseball would depress the value. The asterisk suggests that Bonds' record is tainted by alleged steroid use. The slugger has denied knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs. Fans brought signs with asterisks on them to ballparks as he neared Aaron's hallowed mark. Bonds publicist Rachael Vizcarra did not immediately respond to an e-mail sent early Wednesday seeking comment about the ball's fate. Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland was not a fan of the decision. "I disagree with that totally, because I don't think there should be an asterisk on it," said Leyland, Bonds' first skipper with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Leyland later agreed with a columnist, who said he thought the Hall of Fame was disrespecting Bonds for accepting the ball with the asterisk on it. Hall of Fame president Dale Petroskey said accepting the ball did not mean the Hall in Cooperstown, New York, endorses the viewpoint that Barry Bonds used drugs. "This ball wouldn't be coming to Cooperstown if Marc hadn't bought it from the fan who caught it and then let the fans have their say," Petroskey told the Associated Press. "We're delighted to have the ball. It's a historic piece of baseball history." Hall of Fame officials and Ecko are discussing how to affix the asterisk on the ball. It's not yet known when the ball will go on display. The Giants announced Friday they will part with Bonds after this season, the seven-time NL MVP's 15th in San Francisco and 22nd in the majors. Ecko, known for his pop culture pranks, said he bought the ball and arranged to let the public decide its future online as a way to hold a conversation about a classic American sport in the digital world. "This is obviously something that struck a chord with fans," Ecko said Wednesday in a phone interview with the AP. Bonds broke the home run record with a shot into the right-center field seats off Washington Nationals pitcher Mike Bacsik at San Francisco's AT&T Park. Matt Murphy, a 21-year-old student and construction supervisor from New York, emerged from a scuffle holding the ball. He said he decided to sell it because he couldn't afford to pay the taxes required to keep it. AP NEWS The Associated Press News Service Copyright 2006-2007, The Associated Press, All Rights Reserved
  11. That read like a veteran sac bunt to me by Humber. Reyes draws the walk. 1st and 2nd, Castillo. Phils have a 1-0 lead, as J-Roll did score in the 1st.
  12. Whew. Fick flops out to right with two on. Close the door Humber!
  13. Whoever can see, how deep was that fly out by Dads? Says deeeeeeeep center on Stattracker. Man,...I wanted 3. Three is a magic number.
  14. Nice 1st inning for Humber. Rollins just lead off the Phils game with his 19th triple of the year.
  15. If he played for the Mets I wouldn't give a rats ass what drives him, as long as he keeps driving those balls over the wall. The best of players always seem to have some imperfect push behind them.

    Okay

So its come to this. Im a big fan of both Willits and J.D. and its a sad day when I see them bitch slappin each other. Great thing about this forum is it takes all kinds. Attitudes, opinions, perspectives, ....experiences. Some will be positive, some median, some negative. Some over the top, some under the radar. I don't think I can remember a season in which I expected more and was served an easy glide from the gate up until,.... I guess the Phils 4 game sweep in Philly. Then it became a roller coaster ride that has led into a nightmaresk haunted house. Yea, we are feeling it----the pressure. And we are just fans, lol. Im a big fan of W.P.'s spirit and attitude, and J.D.s wit and wisdom. And I know you two have been fan's of each other long before I ever came along. This will all be over in a couple a days, one way or the other. Whether we are up, down, positive or pessimistic, we should all exercise empathy to a certain extent. And now, especially during these next few days, we should all stand together and take whatever is in store for us,... together. If its painful, it hurts less when we can water it down together with our very tears. If its jubilant, such joy will be magnified and multiplied as together, our tears of joy raise us all till our cup runneth over. Its a win / win situation for us. _______Fin~~~~~~~~~ Man, I can really lay it on when I want,Ha!. All I wanted to say was please stop snapping guys. Instead I waxed. Lets rally around Edgy's lead. If this was the 70's I'd sneak you into the Shea clubhouse to give that speech Edge. And Peterson is the one who should take time with the arm staff. Those words from Wags would be nice--these day's I don't see players stepping up like that. If Peterson is all that, now is the time to prove it. And I don't mean wave a magic wand and make things all right. I mean at least TRY and say the words that might help those arms realize that they are here because they are major league calibre arms. They already made the grade. After the pressure of this stretch, the post season will seem like a pajama party......if they make it.
  17. I'd be interested in hearing what Colorado's Todd Helton said to MLB when interviewed. I imagine that he confirmed the profanity issue.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: ="Valadius"]WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!? - It was Delgado ranging too far (Castillo had that lined up) - Reyes assuming that Castillo was getting it so he didn't cover - And then Sosa assuming the play was going to 2nd so HE was late in covering 1st - Oh yeah, and Delgado bobbled it. Other than that it was played perfectly. Just read the IGT. That was a perfect description of exactly what happened there FK. In the box score it looks like a simple infield single. In reality it was a blotched play and the following run ended up being a big run for the Nats. A BIG run
  19. I say the hitting barrage in the 9th gives us the momentum we need to close this thing out. If the Mets can start really whipping their hittin sticks, this could also bolster the pitching confidence in the sense that they should be able to losen up a little, and not feel like the season is hanging on every pitch,.....which,...it kinda is. Alou has been unbelievable. Chavez stealing third with 2 strikes on Delgado......Can someone explain to me the logic in this? Maybe if he had one strike on him... then look for a the sac. But with 2 strikes Chavez becomes nothing but a distraction, and we have a wiff, two out and no chance for a sac fly. Stealing at that specific point: highly illogical captain. You do not pin your hopes on a wild pitch. That double play Wright hit into in the 7th. CRAZY MAN! What a play by Zimm and the Nats infield. Shea looked sparse of crowd at the start, in the middle, and at the end of the game, from what I've seen from just looking at highlights. Both J-Roll and Da Prince of Milwaukee just slid into the MVP race lead tonight, and it REALLY pains me to say this, but Rollins, whether the Phils make the post or not, is going to win this award. Why? Because Rollins is the first player in major league history to have at least 200 hits, 15 triples, 25 homers and 25 steals in the same year. When the Phils had no Howard and lost Utley, he kept that team in it. Fielder could possibly inch him out, because the allure of the 50 HR's is huge. But 2 more triples, and Jimmy's 200+/20/30/30, and he takes it away from anyone and everyone. As we all know, Phils lost and they have to be wishing for the same thing we are: PITCHING! Starters that can go quality/deep and a bullpen that can do its job, if only half the time. And man, checking the active races for playoff spots, this is just wack. I was never a fan of the wildcard, but it has won me over. I say make one more WC spot. And lets go get em tomorrow.
