  1. I'll settle for a nice hot cup of tea. This game aint over yet. LETS
  2. Nope, Dickys dun and he will go thirsty. Gotta go 6 son.
  3. 1-5. Thats okay. We can get that back. Nolasco did not bring his best stuff with him from the states. Brought his best bat though.
  4. REYES! You gotta make those plays man!
  5. Now 4-1. I went AFK at the innings start and just got back. Carp. I hate coming back to news like this. Come on Dicky! Find your groovethang.
  6. Ugh, Tejada robbed. I want his hitting streak to live on. He will have a few more chances.
  7. All that turf talk was interesting, but what I'd like to know is why they feel they need to use artificial turf there?
  8. That was funny, lol. Uggla swings hard, loses his bat, and it went FLYIN, way far, into the stands. Lands on (or by) a fat guy, he gets up, waves everyone off, and throws it back on the field.
  9. Dickys look like he's trying to find out what he's got. I bet he will eventually be pitchin' tricky.
  10. *shakes head. The booth is right. Infield in there was a bad move. We even got the grounder to short and it didn't work. Dagnabbitt. OOOOooo, someone had to catch that foul pop up!
  11. Shame on you Jose. Singles to start the game and gets picked off. He was really caught off bad, and the way he went back in there, head first and trying to reach around a blind swinging tag....I'd rather see him out than breaking his hand. Heads up throw by Paulino, behind him at 1st after Reyes did a lil deek I'm goin move..

  13. These fangraphics and dense metrics,....they frighten me and make me want to howl at the moon. The guts underlying a lot of these stats are sometimes REALLY simple... there's just a lot of legwork to get the info. John Dewan's +/- stuff is all about range-- chart every ball hit at a dude, figure out how much ground he covers and how much he makes plays within that area, then compare to the league average (changes every year) to see where he stands compared to other left fielders, say. Sometimes, it's even simpler than counting plays-- Tom Tango's Fan Surveys just ask fans of each team to rate their own team's fielders (and anyone they feel they've seen a LOT of), and are a nice supplement to the Wizard-of-Oz-ish UZR and its ilke. Takes a little getting used to, granted, but it tells you a LOT more about a guy's fielding than fielding percentage, say. Seriously though. Thank you for posting that. Helps me evolve. I have a poster on the wall in my cave-office. It says: I WANT TO UNDERSTAND I was trying so hard here, but, sheeze, I guess I can never be 100% serious. I'll make the serious part bold

I notice that there are two places where subsequent editors say my work needs citation. Well, I thought I had cited it when I wrote it, but OK. I search for internet sources to confirm facts about him working for the Bulls and about his voiceover work, and wham, I find out most of the articles supporting my claim are the recently added obituaries, cribbed directly from my (apparently poorly cited) Wikipedia article. I was initially skimming the obit that New Mexico State (his last employer, apparently) put out, and I read, "Brown also turned his voice toward work in the commercial voice-over field, narrating commercials for Budweiser beer, Ace Hardware, and the National Football League, among others." I'm thinking "'turned his voice'? --- that's an awkward phrasing, and yet familiar. Apparently, two years ago, I had written, "Brown also turned his sonorous baritone toward work in the commercial voice-over field, narrating commercials for Budweiser beer, Ace Hardware, and the National Football League, among others." I was subsequently flagged for editorializing, and it was edited to read "turned his voice." Bingo, I'm all over the place this morning. u da man
  15. I got the actual paper today and there are 2 pages on the Mets. TWO. Mark the date. (I haven't looked to see but I bet there are 4 on the Skanks. >< )

Best Rule 5 drafting the Mets ever made, I'm guessing...but he wasn't homegrown. I did not know he came from Atlanta. And he kicked some Brave ass in the '69 playoffs. I'll do that without the novelty of giving myself....the....finger? I thought I had a great joke but then ^that happened. Seriously, a month and a half ago I would have only voted for Barajas. Now I have a bunch a Mets I'll vote for. If Ike plants another before I get my lazy ass to the site and vote, he will get my vote too. I have faith that he will figure out the curve ball and I'll just project what I think he would be doing if there was no such thing as a curve ball.
  20. Good Game. Yesterday the Bizarro Mets must have showed up.
