  1. If the left field wall was human sized would that have been a granny?
  2. Long read but well worth it. Fascinating article.
  3. Of the series this is the game I expected to be a sure win. Last night, a sure loss... So, of course, now I'm worried.

  5. OH! Nice recovery and catch by Pagan! Huge!
  6. I love how we are kicking ass in the game (in this series) we were least likely to win.
  7. Niese will bat for himself and stay in. I like this. But if anyone reaches in the 7th... Niese singles. Woot. Rather not see him running. ><
  8. Niese gets a little wild and gets out of it in the 6th. Cards load the bases but cannot plate a run. The booths right, we cannot let the Cards back into this, no matter what. Molina is lifted. No word yet why.
  9. Pujols is injured. Looks like he might have a concussion in his ribcage.
  10. Niese costs himself a run with his ill advised attempt to field a chopper over his head toward second. He deflects an easy third out into an RBI blahber. Wow, Wright saved a few runs here in the 1st with some nice glove work. This could have been much worse.
  11. Who will play most often in center field? Colby Rasmus has 16 homers -- all before the All-Star break. Rasmus is 3-for-29 since then, including a current 1-for-25 skid. The past two games, he sat as rookie Jon Jay started. Jay, who had four hits in those two games, has been the flavor of the month, going 23-for-50 (.460) since his recall from Class AAA Memphis on July 3, raising his average to .387 for the season. Significantly, 11 of those 23 hits have gone for extra bases -- eight doubles, one triple and two homers. If nothing else, Jay has established himself in a four-outfielder rotation. He will give right fielder Ryan Ludwick a day off now and then as Ludwick gets back into playing trim after sitting out a month with a left calf strain. Jon Jay? Cripes, he already has a college named after him.
  12. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/players/playerpage/390795/jason-bay Evidence acquired. Please forgive me for whipping out my Joe.
  13. They got some rook who's batting like .500. I don't know his name or position. I hat him already. OE: he might not even be a rook. But I hat him whoever the hell he is.
  14. "Just the facts, mam."
  15. Edgy DC wrote: Whitey Fritz only got one plate appearance, to end a game in 1975, but he paid a lot of dues for the Mets. I stumbled upon a passing announcement of his death. I was glad I searched on when I found this article, however. Did not have his picture in my Met image library. A most interesting life. Sad end. I hope those he coached were better for it.
  16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: They're no longer treating concussions with frequent airplane trips? lol. I thought Bays charge into the outfield wall was gonna wake him up! I think anyone who gets injured above the neck on a road trip should travel back by train from now on.
