  5. Damn. How did Span get a bat on that!??
  6. We answered right back. I love that shit.

Course he's like 4-1 vs the Mets but he still sucks. Detwiler may throw a shutout. This is true because this is baseball. And this is the Mets. But I won't entertain that thought. Agree big time about a rain delay.
  9. A smattering of rain falling. After two, 0-0.

  11. Oh man he's droppin that curve right thru em.
  12. Great to have Keith back 2 yak. Sounds like he just had three cups of coffee.
  13. A fine first from Mattman. 3 up, 3 down, 2 Ks.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Yeah I wasn't trying to shortchange the 73 Mets but to make a comment on the seeming winnability of this division in particular and the likihood of the race coming down to a matter of whose momentum is best in late September. If we somehow have another 2 good weeks we are in this thing ready or not. I'm also struck by a lot of personal shit. 73 was the first season I followed the club for real; Lunchpail today is the exact same age I was then and he can say the same for 2013. Same here. If the Mets can pull off a 73' type of season this year my Met fan life would be complete. Full circle. The little guy has not experienced a winning team yet (2006 don't count cause he didn't know he was a Met fan then). Come on Mets, do it for Lunchpail!
  16. Ceetar wrote: Byrd, much like Hairston, is a free agent. Maybe the Mets feel 2014 is a more worthwhile year to invest a little extra in a good 4th outfield masher. Sandy wasn't thrilled with the offerings for Scott at the trade deadline though, and while Byrd is probably a bit better (And defensively too) I'm not sure anything useful is going to available this year either. I'm fine with him not dumping him for the sake of dumping him, but I know others would rather have anything at all that might possibly be of any value at any time ever. This is one of those minor things that I'm good with whatever Sandy decides. I'm with Ceetar. Except that until we have a better right fielder I consider it more than minor. Not major issue though.
  17. This is a one and done so I should put it where it belongs. A less gnattier version.
  18. I wanted to put this at the start of todays IGT but it has yet to exist. So I'll dump it here. Its just past midnight. Its Harvey Day and I start rooting now. LGM!
  19. Nice. There are reportedly some drawn ones from the Lady Met days where she had kids, including one in her arms. Maybe wiki was referring to that pic and not an old illustration. I wish I had more than a few seconds to research this
  20. themetfairy wrote: Aside from the food orgy, yesterday also featured an appearance by the long absent Mrs. Met - Lady Met. She never married. Its a fact! I researched this for seconds! I see the name tag says Mrs. Met, and someone should inform the front office that they should make themselves more familiar with the teams actual history.

The guy was sitting right next to the man behind the catcher with the baseball hat. From that camera view the person was distracting and got on my nerves. After he kept it up for 6 innings or so I just figured he had a problem. Maybe he was doing a Stevie Wonder groovethang with the music or something. I dunno. Looked like he was singing along to whatever was playing in his headphones.
  22. I still haven't recovered from my temporary crush on the red headed girl behind right handed batters from last night.
  23. In the early 70's Metz made the bold move of attempting to sit in with the team for the yearbook team picture. He was very hurt when Yogi and Al made fun of him and told him he would never ever ever be included in a team picture. This began Willard Metzs' decent into oblivion. A few years later the Met franchise dissolved the Mr. Met mascot, and he remained absent for almost 20 years.
