    Steve Albert: the proto-Josh Lewin. This is great. I forgot all about Albert. Interesting call by Murph as North is thrown out trying to steal second on a close call: "Billy North is running! The throw by Stearns-they may get him! OUT at second base! Beautiful throw by John Stearns and Frank Taveres puts the tag on Billy North, and the second base umpire Tony Patche quickly moves into short center field to get away from an argument, the way any good umpire would do." Wonder what Murph would think of todays umps, many of whom look for trouble.

    I haven't seen that many Phils games this season. I don't know if Charlie was losing it or what. But I loved the guy and I'm sure Phils phans and players did too. He's a true character of the game and I shall miss him stammering through his post game interviews.

    Good game all around. I'm a little concerned over Wheelers pitch count but not so much. He's a work in progress. As long as he works his way out of his jams I'm one happy fan.

    How on earth could a pitcher play w/o wearing a cup? Outfielder can get away with that, but even infielders- they have to be nutz not to wear a cup.
