  1. That would be embarrassing for me. Garr was a skinny guy, in my memory, but he did wear his stache all furry like that. Johnson's definitely not the coach. That guy is 60 if he's a day. Don't be embarrassed. You get to be wrong sometimes. He was skinnier on the Braves but his legs were always thick. Hey, I know that coaches face. He always looked old. That's Minnie Minosa. I googled Garr. Story about the SOX unis and the Garr pic is included here: http://www.freewebs.com/karamaxjoe/thewhitesoxshorts.htm Haven't read that yet but I will.

  3. I do believe the guy in the pic wearing SOXshorts is Ralph Garr. Is the coach behind him Johnson?
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Could McCutcheon have been more demonstrative in calling for that? Still, the ball got away from him before the collision. Not that I wouldn't have dropped it with the leftfielder bearing down on me like that. Booth says they don't think Marte could hear him. The crowd does sound a little louder tonight. Lil bit. Great DP as Grandy grabs the hard liner (runner on 1st was off and running) and hurls the ball to first from left. Very nice.
  5. McCutchen might be smooth. But Marte surely is not and makes them both look bad.
  6. Lagares is sooooooooooooooooooooooo smooth.

Frayed Knot wrote: Keith & Gary are missing the point here, IMO, Lagares plain got his hand under Martin's shin prior to the tag. I'm not sure that the new rules had anything to do with this. Totally agree with you. Good riddance Valverde. Hudgens is just one of those "gotta do something" moves.
  8. His 24/7 shaggy facial hair made him look dirty.
  9. Frayed Knot wrote: I tend to think of these moves as more of a 'Don't Just Stand there, DO SOMETHING' kind of deal than they are actual strategy, but 31 runs scored over the last dozen games simply isn't cutting it. Yup.

  11. Rain delay, top of the 4th (8:15ish). 2-0 them
  12. Hill homers off BoFat. CYoung can't get up that wall. Laggy would have had it. EYoung would have had it. Puig would have made it running over from right.
  13. This could be an interesting season for Wright if he starts to hit for power as well. He could make this his best with the start he's had. It's funny how he has so many hits and watching, you don't feel he's been in a groove yet. So many weak & fortunate hits. That was a real nice pulled line hit in the first tonight. Actually, the line hits lately make me think that groove is right around the corner.

I'm embarrassed to say I didn't think they had a chance in hell to win this one. I watched the Rangers, which was a good choice regulation-wise. The catch by Puig. Un-freakin-believable- there's the catch, which was amazin', but the fact that he got there was just ridiculous. He covered more ground than I've ever seen a rightfielder cover. That was practically a fly to center. Wasn't as big a catch as Campbells though (from my perspective) and Eric gets to double up Puig, a double edge sword whose sharp side is so sharp I don't think it matters what the dull side does anymore. Great game. Big win.
  15. Hows the weather looking up in NYC for this game? Just starting to hear very loud thunder down here in S.J. I like Campbell in left much more than first base. The stupidest thing the Mets did in the off season was guarantee CYoung playing time. I have to add the fact that I respect that they are trying to honor that, but to put that out there was just stupid. If it meant he would have passed (if we didn't say it) on the $ we threw at him, good riddance. All it's done is made settling the OF more difficult.
  16. Lagares: 1.2 Murphy: .5 Wright: .4 Granderson: .5 Campbell: 2 Flores: .3 deGrom: 2.7 Torres: 1 Rice: .3 Mejia: 1
  17. And that was one to hit Davey. Booooo. Mets lose yet again.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: You have to remember that that throw would have been from Puig and from short RF; no relays involved. But it was cut. Even though I gotta say Gonzo turned and was ready to fire. They still gotta execute. At least make him make that throw. If Murph ran the way he did and kept on going, and if Gonzo did fire home a decent throw, yea, he was out. Tonight, I don't think it would have been an out I'd complain about. Nice Laggy. Takin 3rd.. ugh. Solo HR ties it Mr Wright.
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: Murphy would have been out by 35 feet or more had he tried to run on that one. That could be one way of putting it.
  20. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Zvon wrote: Taht'll do. Man, I wanted Muffy to score. Why didn't he score on that? It really didn't look like he was busting it on contact. It woulda been close, maybe on the wrong side of close, but the way we need runs...
  21. Taht'll do. Man, I wanted Muffy to score.
  22. I'll take anything here David. But a show of power would be special.
  23. I still like what I saw from deGrom. The 3 long ones: the Gonzo homer, he can throw that same pitch all year and no one hits it out again. Puig is Puig and one curve was flat.
  24. At least get the kid off the hook.
