  1. Good job by Montero. Nice to see.
  2. I'm here for the Aerosmith. Good thing too, the way these guys are hitting. Arrieta, huh? 6-4 Arreita holding us to 2 hits. Gah. Gary says he's done for the day. Good.
  3. Is this a fact? Are Boys To Men going to have a concert at Citi after the game? Why didn't they publicize this?
  4. Gonna zip thru a replay of this one. As nice as it will be to listen to the guyz, they ain't got no Aerosmith! I heard Wright was removed after a HBP. My bro said shoulder--the bad one? Nothing here about it so I guess all is okay. I was a little worried about that. 'Lil bit.

  6. Book it Danno. Both Toys and Rocks were 2 of my favorite 8-track tapes. Played 'em zipping around in my Ford Pinto. Enjoyed the musical selections.

Well, there's a reason for that; two or more hits in six straight outings. Actually, I was zoned out of last night's game by the time he came in to throw a 1-2-3 inning so the bad streak was broken ... but prior to THAT it's been six straight one-inning (or less) outings with at least two hits. I did as well. Didn't recall he got in for 1. He's lookin okay. 1 out. Cubs are helping, 2 out.
  8. Cohen skipped saying it this time: WHERE FLY BALLS GO TO DIE!
  9. We are swinging at shit as well. I wonder what was said between Campbell and the ump when he took the bat from him between pitches. That was interesting.
  10. This is the first time this season that Mejia is set to close where I'm thinking "uh-oh.." And that's against these Cubs who look like they'll swing at anything.
  11. Flores is like the slowest guy on the team...on a fly to left? UghGahShit
  12. JFChrist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Insurance time!!!! Come-on, at least get one across guys.

  15. If Vic is gonna dye his beard he should dye it black.
  16. Dammit. He don't complete 7. Matlack was rooting Wheeler on there. Very kool.
  17. Soupy hits a HUGE homer, and then does that. WTF? And what did he do...keep going all the way to third? The way the Cubs flubbed the throw in I thought he'd have time to make it close. But they had all the time in the world. Jeez.
  18. There's Matlack behind the plate.
  19. d'Kong76 wrote: Caught the last two seconds of the Matlack interview. *&$^%! Very good chat. Matlack looks and sounds great. He spoke about pitch counts, his times with Seaver and Kooz, charting game one of the '73 NLCS and watching Seaver pitch his amazing game and lose. He said Tom Kd 15 (close-13) and after watching that he had no idea how he was going to pitch the Reds the next day. And then, of course, Andy Kosko came up. During the interview SNY put up a Jon Matlack baseball card. It was not his real Topps cards but a custom one that John Hogan made (Cards That Never Were). This is the second time this week that a baseball telecast showed one of his works. Actually the other one was put up on the scoreboard in Baltimore (Cal Ripkin), not as a TV graphic like tonight. Personally I think that's pretty awesome. I guess they just googled Jon and picked an image w/o checking where it came from.
  20. Really drunk people can see right through cops.
  21. Say a catcher is in the "legal" position, both feet inside the 3rd base foul line leaving an open lane, waiting for the throw. The runner has rounded third and is 2/3 down the line as the throw comes in. The throw is right on the money, looking to land right where the corner of the plate meets the third base line. The ball arrives an instant before the runner. The way I understand the rule, now the catcher can't catch that throw properly. He can't have his body in front of it to make sure the ball doesn't get though to the backstop. He must stand to the side like a bullfighter, try and catch the ball and tag the runner as he slides (or runs) by. This is ridiculous. This is a country club softball rule the way it stands now. After the play the other night with denDekker, after the game he made a comment that was loosely: " I know you're not allowed to run down a catcher anymore..." He's a player and he doesn't even know what's going on. I blame the team in this instance- denDekker was going by what he heard in spring training ( IIRC he eluded to that)- as the season has progressed the interpretation has been evolving and a team should really hold meetings and discuss the rule to keep players more informed.
  22. *MOVIE SPOILER=GARP* I remember that the end of Garp was very upsetting to me. It was shortly after Lennon was killed and I didn't expect the flick to end that way, even though IIRC you kind of saw it coming. Great movie but not sure of my fav. I've never seen Dead Poets Society. What Dreams May Come= this movie pulls at your heartstrings throughout. Beautifully acted, fantastic cinematography and amazingly colorful at times--were they sets or CGI?- I don't know. One of the saddest movies Ive ever seen. I would recommend it. In a recent commercial what he said, and his quote from Whitman, struck a major chord with me, every time I heard it. We dont read and write poetry because its cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, O me, O life of the questions of these recurring. Of the endless trains of the faithless. Of cities filled with the foolish. What good amid these, O me, O life? Answer: that you are here. That life exists and identity. That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?

  24. I expected us to be more up vs the Nats. Very disappointing series. Lets sweep this sweep under the rug.
  25. I think it skimmed his toe, then hit dirt.
