I got tickets at 10am, promenade box was the best available for 2 tickets. section 424 row 3, $55 after taxes/fees. Not my favorite area due to the curve of the stadium there, but not horrible. as far as tickets go, I also bought one roaming ticket (well, prom reserved but I didnt' even look to see where it was) and tickets to pyrotechnic night, and the hall of fame game where I'll be on the Pepsi Porch (although in foul territory)
  3. Put 21 on their back and have Century 21 sponsor them. (or MO) Put two apples instead of 00. 64, for Shea. Go the cheesy Yankees route and do '3' for the championship they're targeting. NY? NYM?

I've always wondered why, given two opportunities recently, they didn't give the job to Ed Coleman. I mean, they have him fill in anyway, especially when Howie's doing Islanders games, so what is it they don't like about him?

We are fortunate to have a great TV crew and a great radio crew. I do like me some Howie but I just wish he had a partner I liked more. I always feel like Howie is carrying the load in that booth. I've grown to like Wayne Hagin. I understand what you say about carrying the load, and it's true in some aspects, but Wayne has some surprisingly accurate observations and very interesting insight into what's going on. I feel like he really gets you into the game and thinking about it as he raises some interersting points.
  6. As one of those newer generation of fans (although I'm not that new, I do have a connection to Murphy and childhood that will always be special.), this article was excellent. Gary Keith and Ron really doa great job. They're the right mix of knowledge history and experience, they have a connection to the team, and they're in no way reserved or white-wash things. Spring Training is great for the 'baseball is back' aspect, but most of the games on tv are kind of boring. GKJ are entertaining in their own right, and if you've never listened to a spring broadcast with them, especially late when they're basically planning their evenings, you're missing out. In season they're obviously on the game, but in spring it's almost like they're just three guys sitting next to you in the stands.
  7. I guess 7 pitches isn't that many that it should become a huge issues. I'm always a fan of no limits. The case for limits is that one person could continually swap in pitchers and get a lot more innings and rack up more wins, etc. And I guess with only ER on the negative side that could be the case. Lesse, 5 pitchers, at 200ip each would be 1000 innings, maybe 75 for the two relievers, so 1150. I guess 1250 does work okay, but I'd support bumping it up to 1400 or 1500 to support a 6th or 7th bench pitcher if that's the way someone chose to go.
  8. I soured on Omir fast after his fast start. It does suck for him, and his attitude of "He's better, what's a crappy catcher to do?" doesn't change that.
  9. I despise inning limits, just fyi. :-D and 1250 is nowhere near enough I wouldn't think.
  10. complete players for the win? I think the smarter/older players have learned what Jerry does and does not know, so hopefully they'll have learned when to listen, and when to ignore. I hope.

If it becomes all about strikes, the result could be a big increase in hittable pitches over the plate. Yes , just like last season emphasizing to the hitters to get on base more , they even had that drill that Jerry rigged for the players to hit 80 balls to the same part of the field , over and over...... And to that effect, even the depleted 2009 Mets were near the top in league OBP weren't they? (goes to check). Close, they were tied for the NL lead with a .270 BA. Sounds like something focusing on singles to the opposite field would do.. (they were 7th in the NL with OBP.

looking at that picture, makes me wonder if the camera guy that took it is still alive. David looks menancing.

I'd live with that, it certainly would make many fans happy to see Castillo down in the order, but actually would provide value. It's kinda pointless though, as Manuel is definitely not that forward thinking. Maybe in June when Valentine/other is managing?

Once I heard the LaRussa justification, I liked it. The idea being that you want your power guy, Pujols in his case, up the most times with RISP, and want him up as much as possible, hence third. You want to avoid Pujols leading off the inning, and With three outs per, you should put three guys in front of him that are more likely to get on base than the pitcher. I'd be more apt to put Pagan there than Castillo, who I'd rather bat first to utilize the OBP. He did steal 20 bases last year, so he's still above avg speed. Projections only work if you're replaying the previous year. Wright will hit more power in 2010, so leading him off won't be as beneficial as those projections make it out to be.

I like 10 teams for NL-only... last year I was in a 12 team NL only and literally every full time starter (and more guys that weren't even) was in an active lineup. I agree, I enjoy fantasy baseball, but I don't enjoy combing 5th starter possibilities and keeping up on which prospect the Pirates are starting that may get me a good performance or with 5th starter I ended up with that's gotten demoted to the bullpen.

  19. I see very much of that still in him, you need to look no further then the first very game he took over. It's actually kind of disturbing that he hasn't grown or learned at all. He jumped at the first chance to put his stamp on 'his team', but asserting his authority over Reyes at first base when he showed signs of hurting himself. Manuel had already decided what he was going to do long before he analyzed Reyes at first, he didn't call for a trainer, didn't ask Reyes to walk it off or test it. And this wasn't a 'new' manager. Certainly this was a new role on the team, leading it rather than being 'second in command', but he wasn't a stranger to his players, to Reyes. If Reyes recognized or respected him as a leader, or as authority, he wouldn't have reacted to the decision quite the way he did. Following that event, I feel like there have been other signs that suggest that the players themselves aren't confident in Manuel's decision, even if it's as simple as Santana blowing off bunt signs.
  20. I had such a blast randomly winning SRO tickets to the Pittsburgh version and unsuccessfully trying to sell them for a profit and randomly going to the game that I think I may sell a kidney to attend one at Citi Field. Of course, knowing how things go around here, the Yankees/Fox/MLB would somehow hi-jack it into a "OMG Jeter and Rivera are retiring their last ASG and it's at home (sorta)!" followed by panned shots of Yankee Stadium.
  21. I'm in. Hope I don't max out my Yahoo leagues again this year.
  22. Maybe not the most popular Mets catcher, but hey..
