I don't think that's bad or good news. it's simply news. cross our fingers but I'd be surprised if it healed that fast.
  2. Edgy DC wrote: My greater dream still was seeing Murphy at third and Evans (or somebody) at first. A key to surviving the absence of big bats is having the courage to slide some guys to more difficult defensive positions to get more batsmen into the lineup. That's pretty much the exact lineup I was hoping to see. Stay hot, Murphy. Don't make a fool o' me. I feel a big homer game coming on. (Probably not from Bay) I think Evans will knock one out tonight.
  3. Collins succesfully rotates L, R, L throughout the lineup. well, except for Dickey.

Jose, by the way, is amazing --- slugging .493 despite having only one homer. A gen-u-ine MVP candidate we have here. I'm sure he'll actually injure himself permenantly with the actual pen he uses to sign the contract.

the other of the 'big three' Mark Mulder? Think injuries probably keep him out though. edit: guess he's not active. I just assumed he was on the DL somewhere.

    Josh Beckett?
  7. We should have him leadoff. it'd be better than Harris.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: So, seventh inning, tying run on third, go-ahead on first. Did they play in? Back? Halfway? In at the corners and back up the middle? Because I'm really down with Terry if he had enough faith in the team to concede the tying run. Let me preface this by saying I was only really half watching because was at my parents and such, but I believe this is the play that Harris made the diving stop on and got the out at second with the tying run scoring on the FC? yeah, corners were in. Don't know elsewhere.
  9. New York won six of seven meetings with the Pirates a year ago and has won seven in a row at home in this series. Pittsburgh's last road win in this series was a 7-5 triumph on August 11, 2008. Mets outfielder Jason Bay will face his former Pirates club for the first time since he was traded to Boston in a three-team trade on July 31, 2008. Bay is the only Rookie of the Year in Pittsburgh history. The anti-American Phillies in Washington at 1. Win 1 (3?) for the Nation, Nats! (at home against Washington? I've already forgotten.)
  11. Edgy DC wrote: It's a billion degrees here in DC. What's it like in New York? You want to know what else is hot? The state of the Pirates. Rained overnight, overcast just over the bridge on Jersey. I wish they played all holliday games during the day. What's more appropriate than a BBQ with the radio broadcast of the game in the background? I imagine they've done polls that suggest more people watch the games when they're at night though.

This isn't regressing to the mean it's something else entirely. I mean yesterday was Izzy anad K-Rod, each legtimately talented pitchers and K-Rod probably the best closer in the game right now. Yes, but neither one of them is going scoreless for a month again. (Especially Isringhausen.) iNdeed. wasn't try to pin it on any once aspect just that the one place the Phillies are clearly much better than the Mets is the starting pitching. If you neutralize that advantage, you should beat them. They're also among the best-- if not the best-- defensive team in the league, top to bottom. And they're fantastic situational hitters-- both PHs and lineup regulars. (I'd be the first to say "SSS," but it's been that way for the better part of the Manuel era.) fair enough. Obviously they're not going scoreless for a month, which is why it sucks that their bad inning(s) coincided with a tight game against a divisional opponent. bad luck, or some 'bad team' philosophy where the pitching and hitting don't line up when you want? Yes, they're good situational hitters, and take the bases when they need them. But we made it easy for them in that regard. 2 outs soft single up the middle for Rollins and we can't get them out? (I would've kept Pelf in, but that's hardly a given or anything) They don't make a ton of errors (although they have been this weekend) but they're not infallible either. We were good defensively for most of this year too, but suddenly we're making errors that they capitalize on and they make errors and we don't. bad timing? small sample size? we hit Oswalt a lot, but a lot of the hits were two outs. 2 two outs hits that don't score a run because they were singles with no one on. Although I would say while I do really like our bullpen, I'm not real sold on the situational parts of it. I kinda wish Collins stopped using it like that.
  13. Edgy DC wrote: Among the errors you can look at was a lefthander like O'Connor letting the tying runner on first jog to second uncontested. Being better for a period is nice, but leads must be padded. You can't count on a bullpen to pitch perfectly with one run leads every time. The bullpen has picked this team up, but you've gotta pick them up by taking the heat off of them also. Going oh-for-15 or so down the stretch was not helpful. iNdeed. wasn't try to pin it on any once aspect just that the one place the Phillies are clearly much better than the Mets is the starting pitching. If you neutralize that advantage, you should beat them. No one's perfect, Izzy and K-Rod among them, and not building a freaking lead in either game was criminal. Everything seemed to fall apart at the same time from the pitching to the fielding to the throwing. It's just frustrating to watch, from Murphy failing to put his glove down to Tejada rushing to try to get the guy at second instead of planting and throwing to first.

I don't know, but it's ridiculously frustrating. These pitchers are good pitchers. their offense is not a good offense. Both days our pitcher outpitched their 'Ace', and we lost. it's damn well insane. the Mets looked like they were clearly a better team than the Phillies for roughly 14-15 of those innings. This doesn't feel uncommon either, I feel like a lot of times the Mets are cruising along, come undone in one inning, and it blows the whole game. Why do their errors happen with no one on or with two outs, and ours all happen in the most crucial parts of the game? WHY IS THAT?

The short of it is that in three years Einhorn can go from a 33 percent stake up to 60 percent, and the Wilpons will have the opportunity to block that. If they are fiscally solvent enough to do so, that is. I think the Wilpon's just went all in and are hoping for a good flop. Einhorn is betting they won't get that favorable flop. game on Probably how they got it to 33 instead of 49 maybe? You wonder what all the details are. It seems good for both parties actually, If the Wilpons have to sell it doesn't really matter with the percentage and who buys it and what not. But do they have to sell the othe 40% to Einhorn? Does the clause transfer say next year? Can they sell the other 67% and the new buyer pay Einhorn to keep him at 33%? I presume if they sell the rest, if Einhorn doesn't have first rights, which he might, the clause automatically activates?

The Hennepin is actually only within the Delta Sky 360 club. So you can have it with the panko breaded hot dog bites? I usually try for the Sixpoint Sweet Action, which is also only in that club. Otherwise I'll probably either go with the Blue Point Toasted Lager or Goose Island Wheat. Does anyone go to watch the friggin game anymore? I usually try to go out of my way to get a special beer before the game. I try to rush if I want anything during the game, food/drink etc. Although the stadium is excellent for providing views and tvs and radio/tv feeds for viewing and listening around the place, so that helps.

  19. btw, I activated Angel Pagan in CPF Fantasy. take that.
  20. There's a mention of him in todays game notes too. I don't know if that means Gary or Howie will mention him, but they might.
  21. my guess is he's here temporarily if/when they need a pitcher, of the SP variety, for Tuesday.
  22. Rollins SS, Utley 2B, Polanco 3B, Howard 1B, Francisco RF, Ibanez LF, Ruiz C, Mayberry CF, Oswalt P.
