I guess they don't enforce the Ten Commandments at Citi Field? * *This is a reference, for those who may have missed it, to an ugly incident from last week in which a Target Field usher scolded a lesbian couple at the game. ahh. but not, the only one trying to enforce Commandments was Paulino to the "You shall not steal" thing.
  5. Yankee fan pictured here in the red on black cap caught Kurt Suzuki's home run ball last night. Fans wanted him to throw it back, but he just laughed and pointed to his cap.
  6. the douchbag MFY fan who..you know what, we have a thread for this.

Very bice job of relief by Parnell and Beat-O especially. For us it's frustrating but for them it's a much needed win and what not. and a win is a win.

Hopefully he'll swing through and explain. browser kills my battery real bad so I try to avoid it during games when I know I'm short. I keep a spare set of batteries in my bag for my camera. I use rechargeables, and I guess it'd been a while and they decharged. the rain delay wasn't even over, so I tweeted "Does Citi Field sell batteries anywhere?" and MetsWFAN asked me how many and offered me some. So I met him outside the control room and he came out and handed me an open package of batteries. actually 6. very cool of him. I had to sneak into the Excelsior level to do so, since I only paid $12 to get into the stadium, but hey.. I did find out they sell batteries in pairs of two for $4 in the main Citi Field shop in the rotunda, but I probably wouldn't have spent 8 on that.

But it was certainly something. I've got a billion (200) pictures to upload. Lesbian athletic fans, flooded field, some food..

  12. Won't he possibly miss some of next year too? I thought microfracture surgery was pretty serious and long recovering stuff? Or have they started to perfect it a little? either way, rough news. But due to the conservation of news, the update on Wright tomorrow has to be positive to balance this right?
  13. I don't get it, a small collision and you twist your ankle weirdly going down, bruise your ankle to the bone and may need _microfracture_ surgery. How crazy unfortunate. Davis' bone bruise is still not healing. reevaluate in 3 weeks.

  16. Edgy DC wrote: I think it's clear that Delgado, when saying His speed - it's very important. You're going to get that everyday and that's not going to go into a slump. is speaking of the ability to run, as opposed to the ability to hit, something that's not particularly well measred in OPS. u It's why "he's taking his troubles out into the field" is a sign of letting the slump get to you.
  17. Edgy DC wrote: I hand it to Sandy and Terry that they keep trying stuff like the season matters, and I suspect that maybe they'll try this. This is preferable to the attitude of 'eh, it doesn't matter, no one picked you to win'. continually try to put the best options out there. It might be time to 'worry' about Duda though. I know it's repeated small samples, but this is a couple of times now he came up and just couldn't do it.
  18. 12:16 Andy McCullough: Neither. Wednesday June 22, 2011 12:16 Andy McCullough 12:16 [Comment From NedN NedN : ] I heard today that Collins is considering moving Bay up the lineup. Is that the right thing to do put pressure on him immediately after he hit 1 home run (or even that he went 3 for 3) right away for someone that was "bummed out" just two days ago? Wednesday June 22, 2011 12:16 NedN 12:17 Andy McCullough: Might as well move him up. Bay is a big boy. He's not struggling because of mental trouble. He's struggling because he's a streaky hitter, he's in a bad spot, he feels uncomfortable at the plate, and this lineup doesn't provide much protection. Wednesday June 22, 2011 12:17 Andy McCullough 12:17 [Comment From Scribernetics Scribernetics : ] Didja see the "Game of Thrones" finale? Wednesday June 22, 2011 12:17 Scribernetics 12:17 Andy McCullough: I don't play video games, buddy. Did he just copy and paste the Bay question from last chat? I mean..i wouldn't describe him as being in a 'bad spot' right this moment. Good job having no idea what game of thrones is though. Even if 'see' and 'finale' should've tipped him off. a lot of mailed in 'what's for lunch' questions. (a followup on a question if anyone had asked him what's for lunch yet)

Moreover, speed may not slump, but it does get hurt and it does grow old --- earlier than other skills, typically. Exactly. Your Honor, I place in evidence Luis Castillo as an example of a player signed to a long term contract with a "speed game" who had few other skills to compensate when his speed eroded quickly. Later Reyes has a few other skills to compensate. You know how Reyes smacks the ball off walls for triples, or drives it into the gap? Reyes already has 3x as many home runs as Castillo. Castillo was pretty good defensively, but Reyes is better. Reyes is not going to stop hitting the ball well. His total bases numbers will likely come down, but probably not his XBHs. Now, he might not be worth 20 million near the end of the contract, but he won't be a liability.

They could have locked him up for less money. Stupid. How many here were all for signing Reyes before this season started, especially given Reyes' most recent injury issues? I would've taken five of 6 years of Reyes' 2010 numbers in a heartbeat. Especially for the smaller yearly sum that he'd have gotten. I guessed he'd reach or top 20 million per if they let him play out the year.
  21. Edgy DC wrote: If this is just a brief oasis in a desert of failure for Bay, this team is in trouble. Seems to me that they reallly need last night to be real. Too many guys had been playing over their heads and can carry him no longer. I agree. Even if he's gonna be mostly 'eh' all season, if he could sorta blast a couple of home runs in the next say two weeks and hopefully Davis and Wright come back then? If he could just help keep the team afloat for a couple of weeks?
  22. To Binghamton!
  23. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Really bad night offensively for the catchers -- a hit in nearly any AB they had some extra good potential. Also, Reyes is cooling down. Anyone else have the feeling this team peaked momentarily before Frankie blew that ATL game, and this is what it's been like since then? They've basically been playing slightly better than .500 baseball since the slow start, and since Ike and David went down. I think getting them back goes a long way, because we've lost a lot of close games where we just didn't hit. Even the last couple that weren't that close would've been different games with a little more offense. Hopefully it's only a temporary slump for the bunch of them, but if Bay 'wakes up' then that'll surely help. crossing my fingers on Ike Tomorrow..or was it today?..and David Thursday. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them cleared and back in 10-14 days. If the Mets want to go 'overslot' maybe they should think about offering contracts to the Phillies coaches that get subpar hitting and subpar bullpen guys to overperform consistently. Not that i'm begrudging Hudgens anything, I do think he's done a pretty good job. Still think Warthen is useless though.
  24. You guys have been MIA lately. What's up? 2-0 A's. More first inning runs for Gee but that's usually the only time he gives them up.
