Especially given that he started slow and his been 'better' than his numbers suggest for more than two months. Maybe it's talk radio morons that spend hours mentioning him in the same breath with Texiera saying that Mark is a future Hall of Famer and Murphy can't start on a good team. Also, as many point out, Murphy can't hit lefties, but .300 .313 .438 .751 seems alright to me, if a little light on the walks.
  2. Phillies looking for some Righty power right? smaller park, he still hits lefties..
  3. Edgy DC wrote: Wright should have hit this well his first time through the Florida State League. He went 2-4 with a double yesterday and sits at .421 /.522 / .579 // 1.101 through five games. (The real story yesterday was eight brilliant innings from Kyle Allen.) The Mets are aiming at the weekend with him. I guess maybe he gets some AAA time before then. If he's not already on his way up to Buffalo, he's not going to be. The last plan I heard was Friday in Florida. And with how he's hitting e ven Gary mentioned bringing him back earlier, but if he's not on his way here already either, seems silly to fly him all the way north for one game.
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: This is from an article in the New York Times that discusses Jason Bay's albatrossness: But given the length and size of his contract, Bay will be as much of an albatross as any player in team history if he cannot rediscover his old form. He is slated to earn $16 million per year in 2012 and 2013. The deal also includes a $17 million option for 2014 that will vest if Bay has at least 600 plate appearances in 2013 or at least 500 in both 2012 and 2013. I was unaware of (or had forgotten) that there's a possibility that Bay's contract with the Mets could extend to a fifth year. Obviously, unless Bay gets his act together in a big (and by now, unexpected) way, there's no way the Mets will let him get the required number of plate appearances in 2013. They'd surely release him before that happened. Which could mean his contract is almost half over. Unless it explodes the rest of the way though, Sandy's gonna have an interesting time dealing with this outfield in the offseason. No way they let that contract vest though. Another faux option year that's really an easy out for the front office. Just sitting him against tough righties would keep that from happening.
  5. oh look, facebook. Nothing good public though, except his other activities and interests Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School- Alumni Network, Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project, ThinkCure!, Jim Rome, BearTerritory.net, Wilmer Flores Oh, and he went to a Jewish (High) school apparently. If someone was ambitious wonder what photos could be found on their page. http://www.heschel.org/page.cfm?p=9

  7. He's not on the 40 man, but he's going to have to be added before the rule 5 anyway, he'll be eligible for it next year. So he could be a guy that we see in September. Between him and Valdespin (and Murphy and Turner) I imagine there is no chance the Mets are looking to buy an infielder this offseason.
  8. The righty infielder (plays first, second, and third) is 26, drafted by the Mets in 2008 out of UC Berkeley. Was last year's FSL top All-Star, and made the ESL game this year. .322/.421/.538 with 11 home runs and 2 SB, so I imagine he profiles more towards the corners than second. (Except of course, if he wants to play for the Mets) He extended his consecutive games on base streak to 43 straight. Yeah, 43 straight. The next best streaks in the Eastern League this year? 27.
  9. Edgy DC wrote: Showcasing Izzy in front of his potential buyers? Maybe? someone did suggest that he wanted to get to 300 saves and they'll give him the opportunity.

  11. METS HITS IN A SEASON Through 96 NYM Games REYES 2011: 126 Johnson 1996: 131 Izzy took the loss in '96 game 96 to fall to 4-11 btw. Saves tonight's game. Reyes projects to 212 now, 216 if he keeps up his 1.5 hits a game rate in games he plays, and plays 60/66 remaining games. 225 if he plays them all.

  14. 12 years and 13 days ago? I'd had my license for 6 weeks, was probably hanging out in a Long Island parking lot with my friends. Izzy was getting his first save.
  15. Izzy in for the save. Just like we drafted him for.
  16. speaking of home runs, another 'perk' to _keeping_ Beltran is he has a chance to join Bonds, Bonds, Dawson, Finley, Mays, A-Rod, and Sanders in the 300/300 club. He's at 294/292 HR/SB. might be iffy to get 8 SB for him in two months, but watching a 300/300 race could be fun too..
  17. Berkman hits the Shea bridge to make it 4-2. Hang on guys.
  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Everybody is killing the ball or taking a walk, and Bay destroys himself. And that's the swing AB right there. He does what he's paid to do, it's 5-1 and likely the Mets can 'cruise' to a win. Now they have to worry about middle relief or some such and who knows?
  19. Edgy DC wrote: If he gets has to come out mid-game, Turner or Harris. If he needs to sit a start, Tejada comes back. I don't know about NYC, but it's 114 in the shade out there in DC. I hope Carlos is ready for this. over the river here it's an air quality alert day, suggestions are not to exert oneself. (I just got back from the gym, so I'm not throwing stones here) I know baby's can be unpredictable to a point, but maybe Nickeas should've been a little closer to Queens given that Mrs. Thole was due to pop at any moment? Apparently he's not oging to make it in time for the game tonight.
  20. Be a good name for a dominatrix. I demand an explanation of why he's named that.
  21. Edgy DC wrote: The team will still lack a viable backup shortstop. It just won't matter as much. Although it is curious since Collins hinted at giving Reyes a day off here and there. $10 says no one bothers to ask that question though.
  22. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: It's Tejada who goes down. Chip Hale was waving him toward LaGuardia. That was who I thought it'd be actually.
