  1. Source: Beam Him Up To The Bigs. So how long do you think it's gonna take for the James T. Kirk puns to die.....cos I;m not sure I can live in a world where I'm exposed to them on a daily basis. I'm hoping never.. just hope he doesn't re-injure himself pushing too hard.
  2. Gwreck wrote: They updated the graphics/layouts used on the right field scoreboard. yeah, got updated stats, spray charts, inning recap, etc. I didn't get the Buffalo Dog because the place was packed and I was tired of lines, but I had it last week at the tasting and it's amazing. very tasty.
  3. Gwreck wrote: Always glad to see the team win on opening day. Pelfrey and Bay got all the boos in the introductions. Biggest cheers for Wright, Dickey and Santana. Was very pleased with the bullpen, particularly Byrdak and Rauch. The game might not have been sold out but there were indeed a lot of people there and it was probably close to a sellout; I guess I wasn't the only one who caved because it was opening day. yeah, if it wasn't a sellout it's because 1000 or so $150+ tickets didn't sell. Niese got a pretty good hand too. and obviously Kiner. Even the Braves were clapping for Kiner.
  4. Byrdak 1 Francisco 0.5 Murphy 0.5 Santana 2.5 Torres 1 Wright 2.0

Was a fun atmosphere too, people were mostly into and Bay even only got mostly booed. Really love the new scoreboard. they've really updated the content so no longer will they pop up things like Scott Hairston: .244 1 HR 5 RBI in June like that means anything. OBP/SLG/OPS although that seem redundant. WHIP. XBHs. Even shows the spray chart for a batter's balls in play for the game. scoring summary for the inning (How'd Ike get on again? oh right) I'm thinking you indulged in several beers? Well yeah, I had one at the Read the Apple tailgate, one at the "Metsblog" tailgate, and one inside. Was going for another but the line were crazy so I opted to actually watch the game instead. Missed Blue Point..might have to have a little rant about that. I've got some pictures that I'll dump in Edgy's Opening Day picture thread when I get home(still on LI)

  8. I love Citi. Maybe I'm just biased, I dunno. I love the Bridge particularly, and the building behind it is nice too if downplayed and I love the way it randomly reflects things on sunny days. The Pepsi Porch is nice too, and a lot of those things do fit with the overall 'NYC' theme of it. I've long since accepted advertising is going to ruin everything and to expect big glaring ads everywhere and I just look past them. Like I said earlier, I loved the pennants on the walls (and on the flag poles) but those things were probably gone by the time I was 10. I like and I don't like Marlins park, and I Feel like I should give it a visit before I truly judge it. I like the old Orange Bowl sign being dropped into the concourse like oranges fallen off trees (was that the intent?) even though I have not even the slightest interest in the actual Orange Bowl. The HR thing is gaudy and ridiculous. but fine, whatever right? The aquariums..I dunno..it's neat in a way but I just internally cringe about the care and condition of the fish. The advertising on the board is done nicely though, yes, but I wonder if they're done putting advertising up, if they're still trying to hold out for 'higher' offers, and if they'll keep it like that if say Tropicana offers them enough money but it HAS TO be like _this_. And I agree with Edgy about the convention center thing. Also, the trapezoid is still bothering me. But then the silly dancers/cheerleaders/champagne chandelier .. but that's Miami, and I also hate Miami/Florida so it's probably built into that. YSIII is a mall.
  9. vtmet wrote: Capt Kirk is the only choice that has experience playing Centerfield, appears ready to hit MLB pitching, and is already on the 40 man roster...IMO, any other move would be a bigger risk...gives Kirk a chance to get a short taste for the MLB experience & it wouldn't risk losing another guy off of the 40 man roster (we've already lost Stinson when he was removed from the 40 man roster)... This is the easy answer, but I'm really not sure if it's the right one. I'm really not sure what the best answer is right now. Kirk hasn't quite been back from his oblique long enough. I'd be skeptical even if he was alrady a major leaguer, but to rush him into real games might be a tad hasty. But, he's playing tonight right for Buffalo?
  10. Edgy DC wrote: I didn't see Ronny in there. Double switch? I say Frank. If two guys debut on defense simultaneously, we go with their defensive position number, right? I was thinking this in the stands. They went in at the same time, and Cedeno handled the first ball in play for Francisco's first batter. Lineup order maybe?
  11. Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets,
  12. Frayed Knot wrote: Ladies and gentlemen, your last place Miami Marlins! They may not see 4th place again. Okay, that's not true, the Braves will be 0-3 soon.

(/fist pump) Also former-Yankee catcher Chris Stewart (went 0-3 for them in '08 in 1 game) it's an odd move. They're apparently blaming it on depth. Romine hurt so the _need_ Cervelli to catch for "Scranton"
  19. @coreyNYC is at Marlins park tweeting a whole bunch of things. Here's the bobblehead museum. interesting.

  21. yeah, the Stanley one ain't great, but it's the lime green walls fault at least in part. I'm still thrown by the trapezoidal scoreboard. TV screens are square for a reason. just seems like it's going to be weird to view things on.
  22. Anyone want me to search out/photograph/graffiti anything at Citi tomorrow? My first beer (inside) is going to be the new Blue Point White IPA.
  23. SPRING TRAINING IS OVER. now it counts. let's do this.
