I think Alderson said something like May 15th-June 15th for Young. Alderson also present skepticism that Santana will be reliably able to go on 4-days rest. I hope this means he's looking to acquire another rotation guy, but I'm not sure anything worthwhile is available.

  9. remind them that one collapse begets another, trust me on this.

  11. And as was pointed out by others, drafting Lucas Duda behind 4 college relievers is not necessarily a pure drafting win either.
  12. straight from the press release, but that's cool. I love they included the pronunciation of Hempstead.
  13. Well Tony was supposedly responsible in part for the 'fast track' system. Of course, people soundly criticize that system now. Clearly if Mike Pelfrey had spent another year in the minors he'd be the Ace he was picked to be, and if Murphy had spent another year down there he'd be Ordonez with the glove. Meija never would've had Tommy John if he hadn't been put in the bullpen. Nick Evans would've blossomed into a corner OF slugger.
  14. did the kid ask for the ball? I've been busy and I'm not sure I'd 'follow' this story closely anyway, but I saw some talk that the kid was crying already, that it wasn't about the ball, and that Michael Kay basically just blew everything out of proportion (because clearly from the occasional camera view shown him he knew the whole story exactly while broadcasting the game on the field)
  15. I was actually disappointed by my afternoon conference. How'd I end up in the Yankee fan one? hmm..
  16. Saw someone point out that when the game started all 10 guy on the field were grown by the Mets.
  17. yeah. the morning sessions were more populated, but not 'crowded' by any means. And I'm pretty sure I border on being the youngest person there. (not counting the actual students milling around in the halls of course) Greg's doing a great job as liaison or participant or moderator or whatever it is he's doing. He's all over the place.
  18. would it be better if I said Rubin's a partial jerk?
  19. Gwreck wrote: Ceetar wrote: Rubin's a moron. I have Adam R. on line two, awaiting your apology. You may not like him but his reporting is solid. I didn't say his 'reporting' wasn't solid, I was implying he twisted the story in a negative light and jumping the gun on the additional testing and review, which he did. Just because he ended being correct, doesn't make it any more of a negatively spun story. For example, Martino also mentioned the tear but mentioned the hesitancy and the hope that maybe it was just a small tear/tendinitis/non-surgical.
