I'm glad that you like it so much That photo went viral Well, viral between me and my lil circle of friends. Seriously, that shot is worthy of viralishness. Somebody, inject it into the masses! how would tmf like to be credited? real name? cranepoolid? carrier pigeon?

Ceetar wrote: Continue to be a perennial MVP candidate and help the teams win ballgames I suspect. Shouldn't Wright be trying to do that anyways, whether or not the FO is full of shit? Was agreeing. Nothing he can do but continue to be who he is. Grass is green, Wright is awesome, Yankees suck, etc.

And the number of hits from the rest of the 5-runs crowd range from 1/3 to barely over half of Turner's 41. I think GK&R should make a big deal about every time he gets on for the rest of the year just to see how each episode will end. tweet at Kevin and/or Ron. Maybe you can get 'em to bring it up.
  4. Continue to be a perennial MVP candidate and help the teams win ballgames I suspect.
  5. Those guys are Hall of Famers in part because they're lucky/exceptions to the rule. Not the other way around. He's right that "THERE IS NO BOOK!" as Ron Darling said, and that innings limits aren't particularly effective at keeping guys healthy. He's also right that conditioning your muscles to throw a certain amount, whether that's 150 pitches or 75, is probably more important than the actual number. But to then single out guys that beat the odds as having some special quality of workout or commitment to excellence is the silly part. When we figure out what genes make stronger capsules and ligaments, and 16 year old kids get preemptive Tommy John to implant the super-ligament, will that be considered a form of PEDs? What about when someone replaces their shoulder joints with hi-quality terminator-style cybernetics?
  6. I've soured on Collins the last couple of months. Much like Randolph down the stretch of his tenure, it seems like he's forgone a lot of the intelligent analysis or trusting the process stuff in favor of sticking to 'baseball instinct' stuff like "Young is fast so he's good leadoff." "Justin Turner is a gamer" and what not.
  7. amusing The background of this card features a POPSICLE.
  8. Both Niese and Gee are pitching with partial tears. Not the same ones as Harvey, but they're pitching with them. Of course, they're on anti-inflammatory medication. This allows them to get back on the field and avoid surgery and pitch. But it's okay, because they're not on "the list".
  9. Was gonna guess Gwynn but I checked and little one maxed out at 22, well, so far anyway.
  10. love this one.

Centerfield wrote: Next year was going to be, at best, 1985. this has been bothering me all year. The only comparison to '85 (yes, I was three, that's irrelevant) is a narrative. And that's fine, those stories and narratives are fine, but there is no relationship in terms of progression. The Mets aren't "this bad". They've been playing roughly .500 ball since like June. So it's not like they need a last-to-first conversion. They need to make a bunch of moves, surely, but if those moves end up working out they'll certainly be competitive. Sure, I don't want them going all willy-nilly buy everyone like Bowden seems to suggest they were going to be tempted to do, but honestly any realistic projections and plans for 2014 should've included at least one pitcher ending up injured, if not more.
  12. Benjamin Grimm wrote: This whole thing sucks, but it's no reason to write off 2014 yet. Bowden is making a thinly veiled 'Mets are broke and can't spend enough to win without Harvey' comment there.
  13. wait for next year next year isn't a 'hidden bonus'
  14. correlary is one good losing streak by the Yankees. They just had their hot streak with the Jays sweep, and it didn't get them there.
  15. Because I love last minute things (football always sneaks up) Anyone want to hop into a football league? Draft's Thursday. http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/832368 No longer can sign up via id/password, have to pass me your email and I have to invite you directly. I think this is a ryder in the Patriot Act.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Well, the harm is that there may be smarter options available for the money. not sure there are actually 'smart' ways to spend money on pitching arms. If we could get Santana renewed on a Marcumesque deal? (Or a Chris Youngesque one?) Absolutely sign me up. Or, you know, Mike Pelfrey. Those are probably your two main options. filler types or injury-addled high-reward guys. Or just whatever sticks and lots of offense, but they're a ways away from that.

At least that's something I wanted to see tonight that worked out. A Duda at bat. LF. Who cares about defense if you're only going to score 1 run a game? you won't win. It's more likely Duda will make all the plays/there aren't any tough LF plays than it is that Eric Young contributes. My doctor said I can't even talk to anyone on the topic of Duda playing the outfield. At least play Brown (or hell, Monday, play Kirk). Anyone but Eric "I run really fast" Young Jr.
  18. I believe this is 6 runs over the last 6 games (with one inning to go) but I'm afraid to look it up to confirm.

Yeah, Keith would be way out of bounds if he simply took it upon himself to start offering advice to Lagares, or to anyone for that matter. He did say something about making a point of talking to Hudgens about what the philosophy/mind-set is in that type of AB He's stated in the past that he's talked to guys about certain things, hitting wise. I specifically remember an instance with Pagan where Keith was pointing out something which flying out from the shoulder and that Pagan is aware because he was talking to him about it. That's probably slightly different than pitch selection, but not by much. The thing is, a lot of it's just guessing. And if you're guessing at pitches, sometimes you're going to be wrong. And Keith, often times, is still using the scouting report from his playing days at times. "2-1 count, runners on, he's gonna throw.._this_" and when he's right and the batter disagrees, well.. But Keith and Ron get that guessing game right a lot, ancedotally.

  25. Frayed Knot wrote: Kind of makes you wonder where and how often they'll play the big guy. Baxter and not say, Satin makes you think OF. He's better than Eric Young Jr though, so it's really a no-brainer. Especially today/tonight with K-happy Harvey on the mound and where he'll presumably get fewer chances in the field and his offense might push the Mets to as many as 2! runs tonight.
