  1. I'm still shocked the Yankees found something they didn't want to market.
  2. Expect the bats to hit a few homers tonight. You heard it here first. I kinda want a deGnome in my garden but wasn't in the cards for me. Jon Niese and [crossout:1sodeg47]Geo Metro[/crossout:1sodeg47][fimg=300:1sodeg47]http://zombiedrive.com/images/1990-geo-metro-2.jpg[/fimg:1sodeg47]Gio Gonzalez 7:10 EDT on WPIX.
  3. well it's a "separate" marketing agreement so i assume it neither counts against the luxury tax nor is applicable to the 'no money for stat milestones' (which is such bs anyway) Which to me seems like it'd be even harder to get out of. If it's outside the normal contracts the drug testing agreement probably shouldn't even apply. of course it's all speculation because no one's seen the terms.

I can certainly get behind this. yes, the lack of Tejada for late inning defense is frustrating. Even if you had to give Tejada an AB a game or so, big deal, more likely to get on base anyway.
  6. having both of them expounds the problem and it doesn't get much better with Murphy at third. If they hit a little more it'll be okay. While there have been defensive issues aplenty, Losing Wright and d'Arnaud feels like it's the bigger problem, and Campbell, Flores and Plawecki are churning out the outs on the wrong side of the ball.
  7. Presumably Cuddyer's wife Claudia and their kid. [fimg=600:2lbpj42w]https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-GlhZTA2vI3k/Uea0H7rGhKI/AAAAAAAAGt0/N1shDlRLDEY/w958-h719-no/IMG_5832.JPG[/fimg:2lbpj42w]
  8. It's such a simple concept, I don't know why you guys keep starting these threads wrong. Mets send out a may day, flash the bat signal. Matt Harvey is here to save the day. Edgy MD wrote: Rafael Montero taking a detour on his way back to Las Vegas to get his shoulder checked out in New York. his optional assignment rescinded and he's on the 15 day DL. here's your conspiracy theory. They started him in the majors. They sent him down but with a definitive date in mind to be recalled. They needed to send him back down for various reasons, but the mandatory 10 day demotion would've triggered his option year. (20 days total needed) Instead he's on the DL, which saves his option temporarily, gives them time to trade Gee or stumble into an empty rotation spot another way, and gives them 30 or so days of minor league 'rehab' time to have Montero start games in the minors before they'd need to recall him or officially option him to AAA.
  10. was that written by one of the protesters or something? It certainly misses ALL the points.

  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Does anyone actually like Crackerjacks? It seems like something you eat when you're bored or hungry and there are very few other options available. popcorn, caramel, crunch, what's not to like?
  14. They really need to win the series to keep the pressure on. Not just from a 'Mets can be good' perspective but also from a 'Nats are a disaster' one. Even 2-2 takes time off the clock and keeps the Nats in a "what's going on with us?" mode, but it'd be iffy from a Mets standpoint. Ultimately I want the Mets to win at least 9/15 of the remaining games against the Nats. That'd leave the Nats 9 games back and make it pretty hard for them to catch even a .500 Mets team in the other games.

  16. Lefty Specialist wrote: I don't like that they're heating up just as the Mets are cooling down. Spending the weekend golfing with a bunch of Phillies/Nats fans and I don't want to be taking crap for 3 days. I'm still living down 2007. 4 days. but perhaps the Mets are through the cool period and will heat up again. they don't lose at home after all.
  17. it's the other way around. they report tickets sold.
  18. MFS62 wrote: It was weird seeing, Attendance: 0 in the box score. Later Which is BS isn't it? There were tickets sold to that game. Or did they give a full refund to everyone and not just a 'come to another game'?
  19. bad breaks all around here. One of those games where their hits find holds and your blasts find gloves. whatever, kill the Nats. Really starting to miss d'Arnaud and Wright though. And a SS who could get on base would be nice too. Flores down to a .296 OBP.
  20. You know, part of the "so much more" strategy non-DH love is about running out of of players, something adding roster spots in exchange for dumping it in the AL would do damage too.

  24. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: You can read the article as scanned if you click + enlarge it. I think it may have been a bulldog kinda piece because the harper column online from the same date is about arod. I'm the last guy to defend Harper who's a lazy hack, but MGiM knows the columnists don't write the headlines and though the headline is overdramatic it is a NY tabloid sports page and it could be interpreted to refer mainly to the "subway" theme they always use when these teams meet. Finally the team WAS a trainwreck, if what you're writing about is the the way it played Sunday as Harper appears to. It's gotten to the point that if headlines proclaim absolutes or other clickbait gimmicks I just don't click on them. If your headline matches the theme of the post like "Mets sloppy play is a problem" that's better. The first infers what I'm going to get is a sportsradioesque rant.

Did it ever come out why Terry used Muno over Kirk the other night? I thought I saw a tweet suggesting that TC knew something but Bryan Price style wouldn't reveal it. I didn't see anything. My guess? Terry knew he was getting sent down for Montero and wanted to get him a start.
