  2. Edgy DC wrote: It's Elisabeth Shue vs. Elizabeth Daily in Fman's pants. Don't make wanking allusions in a Pee-Wee thread, seriously. When I find it tough to chose between two movies, I throw my vote to the one that's way behind. So Pee-Wee, you owe me.
  3. themetfairy wrote: I liked Stripes. I thought E.T. was a bit insufferable at times. I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm voting for Stripes. I'm also a minority. Male librarian, specifically, but that's not relevant here. I voted for the silly Stripes over the mawkish E.T..
  4. I've seen parts of each of these movies. I liked the Blade Runner parts better as at least that movie appeared to acknowledge that the audience may have a brain, whereas Terminator is eye candy for the "Huh-huh, Ahnold blows things up!" knuckledraggers crowd.
  5. Three Amigos is like one of those Saturday Night Live sketches that just keeps going and going long after it ceased to be funny except for the fact that Three Amigos didn't start funny. This seed should have been given to a more deserving 80's movie. Fuck, even Ice Pirates was better.

  7. Ha-ha! The Phans are booing Bud Selig. Keep it classy Philly!
  8. Official time for the game 3:28. Ha! Plus a 46 hour rain delay.
  9. Congrats Phillies. You're a target to be tumbled from your perch now. And I know just the guys to do it.
  10. The Rays have life in 'em.
  11. Zvon wrote: I'm thinking with being like a 3 inning game getting something started right off the bat makes the lead off situation a big spot. . 3 inning game? Wouldn't it be hillarious if it stayed tied until the 15th inning so that they end up playing 9 innings tonight? Yeah, I didn't thinks so either.
  12. MetsOnline itself was a fan-built website in the mid-90's that predated the Mets having a website. MetsOnline was killed by a cease & desist in 2002, although I think there may still be a bulletin board out there where they're calling themselves the MOFO.
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: What Mets pitcher got a nickname from Police Academy? David Weathers was sometimes called Tackleberry. The Padres' Khalil Greene looks more like Spiccoli.
  14. Sure, all you chardonnay-swilling elitists who can only say "film" and not "movie" will prefer Fast Times. You'll always pick the movie with the teenage boy masturbating because somehow that's art. But let me ask you, how many sequels did Fast Times at Ridgemont High spawn? None. TV series? None. Cartoons? None. Nicknames for Mets pitchers? None. Police Academy is definitely the cultural touchstone of the 80's.
  15. Looks like Gozer wins out over Jesus.
  16. metirish wrote: ] 'We'll stay here as long as it takes even if we have to celebrate Thanksgiving' Selig sounds like a fool when he says things like that. Kind of reminiscent of McCain's "100 years in Iraq" blunder.
  17. Centerfield wrote: The doctor from ER Good thing you specified doctor, otherwise I wouldn't know which character on ER you were referring to.
  18. Ghostbusters is on Hulu for your viewing pleasure.
  19. AG/DC wrote: Actually, I'm aiming at Grimmy with that comment. But Grimm was responding to me and not really referring to the movie at all.
  20. AG/DC wrote: I don't know why guilt has anything to do with appreciating this movie. It doesn't. That was a joke I though you at least would get.
  21. I feel bad for any fan who had tickets to last night's game and have a time conflict with the continuation of the game.
  22. That was perfect in every way, especially: * color film of the Mets playing at the Polo Grounds (I wish I could have gone to a game there) * Casey laying it on thick * Fans with outrageous New Yawk accents declaring their love for the Mets * The scoreboard when it was all scoreboard and not a frame for a big Budweiser ad
  23. Coming to America made me laugh once. Better Off Dead still makes me laugh. "It's got raisins in it. You like raisins."
  24. An all-agrarian match-up but Field of Dreams has the home field advantage.
  25. Ghostbusters is going to win this one and deserves to win this one, but I had to throw a vote to Heaven Help Us or my Catholic guilt would have overwhelmed me.
