  1. that's on the video, too, Mr. Shot.

I only invited you to that party in reliance on your honor to respect our little group's confidentialily. One's private peccadillos are not internet fodder. You, sir, should prepare yourself, as i now plan to release clips from those videos on YouTube.
  3. Kid Carsey wrote: C'mon Vic, he wasn't pointlessly attacked.he was attacked... by you, then by Cooby, then by 83. Whether the attacks were pointless or not i'll let others judge. But instead of dealing with the brunt of his opinion (which can be simply paraphrased as "that interview killed me because Omar said nothing and sounded like an idiot while saying it"), it quickly became about Ira's "agenda", and focus shifted to his minor (and unfortunate) aside about whether Omar is or is not TRYING to sound like an idiot on purpose. It became "there he goes again", which is a way of dismissing him without dealing with his point. And then, of course, `83 went and called him idiot. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that people AREN'T out to get you, ya know. And when you gang up on him, that just reinforces his persecution complex. If you want a kinder, gentler Ira/Bret, then stop crapping on him.
  4. i didn't hear the interview, but i've often thought that Omar must be smarter than he sounds, otherwise he wouldn't be able to feed himself. As a horse-trader and deal maker, he's had some moments, good and bad. and the fact that we've had 2 pages on this is due almost entirely to the fact that Ira's point wasn't being responded to... only his perceived personality, subjecting him to pointless ad hominem attacks. geez, folks. He's talking about Omar, not your mama. So lets all relax, and address the very valid opinion that Omar sounds like a moron, and listening him is mind-numbing. Some of you liked the interview... great. Do we think that sounding like a moron MAKES you a moron? There is definitely evidence that Omar might have an idiot savante thing going on. Or is this whole "articulateness" a coded form of racism? Or is such an accusation Biden-esque in its inaccuracy? see, there ARE things to discuss on this subject, without being dismissive, accusatory or insulting.

Being "politically correct" is ideology-neutral. 1. spelling it with one "g" is a perfectly acceptable spelling according to the American Heritage Dictionary, when referring to a bundle of sticks tied together... as, of course, i certainly was, since any bunch of woodenheads tied together by a hate on david wright could certainly be referred to by that term. 2. No, i don't think i want to reconsider using that word... or any word. I put alot of consideration into all the words i use, so 1 consideration is generally enough for me. And as for your beliefs, they are of absolutely no interest to me. Some people appreciate my sense of humor, others don't. Of course, if you found my joke personally offensive, then i'm sorry you chose to take offense. But feel free to stop speaking for others. 3. Yes, "politically correct" is an ideology-neutral term... there are, in fact, overzealous, humorless arbiters of appropriate conduct and speech on both ends of the spectrum. So whose... i mean, WHAT end do you emerge from?
  6. What word? I didn't use any word...
  7. Wright could end up the best player in Mets history, before he's done. He seems to work hard and take the game seriously, but has fun with life. He doesn't want to offend or say no, there are no photos of him drunk with a hooker, nor has he been seen with a needle of HGH hanging out of his veins. Yet there are 3 pages here of nastiness. what the hell is the matter with you people? He's SOULLESS? Why, because the Mets and his management team are promoting the hell out of him, and using him to promote the Mets? so fucking what? geez. Maybe if he'd had a better finish last season, i wouldn't have to be exposed to this bullshit. JD, if you want an acronym for your anti-Wright group, let me suggest one: Fans AGainst Our Top guyS.... not that there is anything wrong with that.
  8. oh wow what a great idea, Willie... too bad we haven't been asking you to do it for over a year now! what about Milledge, by the way? If he makes it into a RF platoon, or takes over the position outright, i could see him batting 2nd, with Loduca 8th. And Delgado and Wright can be flipflopped in the 4/5 slots, to keep a good L/R balance. Reyes** Milledge Beltran** Wright Delgado* Alou Valentin* Loduca
  9. because, personally, I find your chart unviewable, with its many colors and photos, and its too spread out. While you project a possible 25-man roster, you don't break them down into L/R, or suggest a lineup or roles for the relievers. So I sporadically present my list as a simpler take, but with more info, in order to posit new questions on the development of the roster as it proceeds thru ST. My list obviously overlaps with your work (and an estimable job you do!), but i just find it more useful for me, and maybe some others might, too (or not).
  10. That will leave open the option of carrying Milledge on the bench during that period. He may well play his way into Green's job. Otherwise, if they don't carry a RHed hitting Ofer on the bench, who subs for Green on D, or when he continues to suck? Easley? Who gets the 6th SPer/long man slot in the pen: Park, Sele, Sosa or Vargas? - Sanchez will be starting on the DL, and Padilla will, too. Smith has forced his way into the bullpen, and Burgos (with options) may have pitched his way out of it. Do we cut or trade Adkins, or keep him as the 12th man? Without Mota, Sanchez or Padilla, and with Burgos ineffective, we are short of RHed relievers. Does Urdaneta get a serious look?
  11. and if you combine Chick-Lit with slave traders, you get the most unwatchable movie of all time... GONE WITH THE WIND.
  12. it has an inpenetrable estrogen aura that prevents me from even considering watching it, unless my wife insisted. But even she found it too gay for words. NTTAWWT. I like Anne Hathaway. She got naked with hispanic gangbangers in an otherwise awful movie called ..."havoc", i think.
  13. i don't think he needs to develop a home run swing. He already has one. Reyes is taller and leaner than Ricky. A sinewy type, he'll likely get bigger and stronger over the years, as players are want to do. He still might average in the 15-20 hr range for a little while, but i think an average between 25-30 hrs for a prolonged part of his career is totally reasonable projection, based on his physique and quick bat. as far as the lefty/righty thing goes, he's just an all around better hitter from the right side. period. As time goes on, he might simply develop a better left-handed stroke, which would add to his power numbers, as well.
  14. i'm saying 25/60 this year, and 30/50 on average for the following 6-7 years, with a peak of 35/70 somewhere along the way. Or he rips up his tendons, ligaments, muscles and hamstrings so often, they have to put him down like Barbaro.

  17. metsmarathon wrote: strikeouts don't move runners. groundouts can. ...they also lead to more DPs, especially when the hitter has Loduca's speed. I'd rather have a hitter LESS likely to ground into DPs behind Reyes, since Reyes can advance bases without a hitter giving himself up to hit behind him. I don't think the increased likelihood of scoring 1 run by moving reyes to 2nd (on a hit and run) or third (on a grounder to the right side) outweighs the loss of a big inning (or even a single run) created by a DP, especially when considering the ability of Reyes to advance himself. And this doesn't even address the potential of a big inning with a hitter like Wright in the 2 hole, rather than the speedless, punchless loduca, or the impact on overall scoring over the course of the season resulting from giving a better hitter more ABs. ON EDIT: DOH! FK beat me to it...

Hallelujah! - Pelfrey seems to be pitching his way into the 5th slot in the rotation. should Park stick over Sosa as a long-man/spot-starter? - Green has started hitting, but should they carry Ben Johnson over Newhan on the bench? - Sanchez is likely starting on the DL, and Padilla may, too. Smith may be forcing his way into the bullpen, possibly at the expense of Adkins. Does it make sense to lose Adkins for nothing, to keep a kid with options in the pen?

In which case, if they don't trade or buy out Green, he'll either cost Newhan a spot on the bench, or we'll be going with 6 in the pen, instead of 7. - Smith and Soler may have forced their way into the bullpen picture, at the expense of Sosa, Adkins and/or Burgos, with Sanchez likely starting on the DL. Padilla will start pitching in games this weekend.
  20. ] March 7, 2007 PORT ST. LUCIE, FLORIDA (TICKER) -- The New York Mets on Wednesday signed veteran infielder Wil Cordero, who did not play last season, to a minor league contract. In 29 games for Washington in 2005, Cordero batted a woeful .118 (6-for-51). He hit just .197 (13-for-66) with Florida the previous season. Cordero, 35, is joining his ninth team in a career that began in 1991. The Puerto Rican native is a career .273 hitter with 122 homers and 566 RBI in 1,247 games.
  21. David still has the wright stuff, as far as i'm concerned. He seems to me the kind of guy you build a franchise around, and he gives you solid defense with a .300ba/30hr/100r/100rbi/20sb.900+ops season, year after year, for 10-15 years, and retires as a Met. Reyes, on the other hand, still makes me nervous. I'm always concerned about free swingers whose production is based primarily on their speed. Especially ones who've lost significant playing time in past seasons to leg/back injuries. Sure, he's more exciting than D-Wright, and if he maintains or builds on his .350+ OB% and 20hr+ power, and if he stays relatively healthy over the course of his career, he'll approach Ricky as one of the greatest leadoff hitters of all time. But the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and Jose Jose Jose Jose still makes me nervous. D-Wright just makes me smile. We've never had a homegrown everyday player with this much Ripken in him.
  22. i've been advocating Wright as a #2 hitter since he came up. Mostly on the principle that you give your best hitters more ABs. Why Wright and Alou should hit 5th and 6th, while Loduca hits 2nd (stealing ABs from good hitters), is beyond me. That being said, i've also seen too much data, indicating line-up order (especially as to whether a guy hits 5th or 2nd) has very little significance in offensive production, for me to make a big fuss about it.
  23. I just need one! email me!
  24. the only way A-Rod opts out is if he can get a penny more than the $25m/yr for the next 3 years that he's guaranteed under his current deal. Since its unlikely he'll be able to, even with the boom in the market, he'll be staying put (unless he's traded). period. end 30.
  25. the lack of 2b and Catcher prospects is worrisome, given our current situation at those positions on the major league level.
