    A larger issue may be the long term effects on the kidney by the most common type 2 drug, Metformin. Ed's situation is by no means unique. There are newer drugs aka Januvia that work differently and less toxic given to those new to the disease but at $700 a month are unafforable to most. Good luck Ed, you always look good.
